    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in November 2014.

    Interview

I completed the process through University recruiting. Everything was well-organized and there was good communication between applicants and the recruiter. They explained the process thoroughly so that we knew the next steps. The recruiter made sure that travelling to the location was as simple as possible. They were "round robin" interviews, so each interviewer had a different style and demeanor, but they all made me feel comfortable.

    Associate Human Resources Manager Interview

Anonymous Employee in Golden Valley, MN
    No Offer
    Positive Experience

    Application

I applied online – interviewed at General Mills (Golden Valley, MN).

    Interview

Once the online application was submitted, I had a 30 minute phone interview. Then I was offered an onsite interview for 3 hours. Before arriving I was asked to complete an assessment online. Once I arrived, I completed another assessment and met with 6 individuals over 3 hours for interviews. One of the individuals I met with was a peer in the role and they brought me around the facility to show me what it was like to work at the office. It was more informal and I was able to ask job related questions to that person.

    Sourcing Management Associate Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Minneapolis, MN

    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in October 2014.

    Interview

Applied through my university. Made it through the first round through online application, resume drop, and cover letter submission. First round of interviews is a 2-on-1 interview with two employees/recruiters, with notes taken on laptops, not handwritten. This can be somewhat disconcerting, as eye contact from recruiters is reduced, and can thwart one's confidence. After this, you will be notified over whether or not they want you to return the following day for a behavioral fit test. I was not notified, and this was indicative of not receiving an offer.

    Interview Questions

    • They ask a mixture of standard behavioral questions and some technical questions.   Answer Question

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in July 2014.

    Interview

Applied online and was told I was selected to fill out a pre-screening questionnaire. It was long, 15 or so questions. Then was told I was selected to interview at HQ. Interviewer didn't seem interested in me as a person and asked three increasingly personal questions about my willingness to relocate. I had already stated in me screening that I was not willing to relocate, so this caught me off guard. She seemed very disinterested after that point.

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN).

    Interview

It took about 3 months for the company to contact me. There are hurdles in order to stop anyone from actually contacting about an interview or really following up at all.
It's fairly frustrating to have to wait for so long for such a near-entry level position.
Mostly the entire contact was cold and mechanical, the woman who called didn't even say the right name at first.

    Interview Questions

    • Unexpected about what my ideal boss would be like. Also hinted at lowering my salary expectations.   Answer Question

    Interview

After sending my resume to several people finally one of their recruiters contacted me and we scheduled a phone interview that lasted 25 minutes. We discussed my professional experience and she explained what the job was about. She then sent me a questionnaire by email that I had to fill in giving more details about my experience and explaining some of my achievements. She forwarded it to the Finance department for them to evaluate if they were interested in having a personal interview.
