    Interview

First, you are contacted by an HR rep who asks you about why you are searching for job and what salary you are making now and what you plan to make working for GM. Then I was asked in for an interview, where I met with 4 people, 2 at a time and the interview as all behavioral and very challenging. I was asked back again and had an interview with the director and all questions were traditional

    Interview

This is an MBA recruiting program. I went to NSHMBA without any leads or contacts at GM but made a good enough impression to get a first round interview. I had two separate 30 minute interviews, one was behavioral based and the other was technical based. I was then flown to Detroit for a final round 'Super Day.' There were 4, 30 minute interviews where interviewers mixed behavioral, situational, and technical based questions. There was also a technical screen where you were given 90 minutes to read over a business case, build a forecast model, and write a memo about your findings. Your fifth 30 minute interview consisted of a presentation of your analysis along with other technical questions and critiques of your analysis. It was a long process.

    Interview Questions

    • If GM were to pay a large one time special dividend, how would this impact our cost of debt?   1 Answer
    • Can your cost of debt ever be greater than your cost of equity?   1 Answer

    Negotiation

I asked to gross up the signing bonus and receive the bonus in advance in return for cancelling two scheduled final round interviews. They said no. I talked to three other candidates that received offers that all tried to negotiate to no avail. They have an offer for you to either take or leave.

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at General Motors (Detroit, MI) in March 2015.

    Interview

My profile was on gm site for a job in the Arizona area. A recruiter called me about a position in Detroit. Got to the airport, and they booked me on a later flight. Had to wait at airport for 6 hours. Interview was a all day event. Started at 8 am. As soon as I got there, I was drilled with questions until I left. Spent time interviewing with probably 10 people. The people in Detroit seemed grumpy and unpleasant, not friendly like in Denver. Worst experience ever.

Screening of resume through outside contract firm. GM uses key words to filter resume based on how many times you mention key words like Agile. Also some can be risen based on employee referral to hiring manager. Initial interview via phone and then face to face with multiple interviews over half a day

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at General Motors in March 2015.

    Interview

I was contacted initially by an HR representative. We talked for about 20 minutes during which he asked questions such as "Why GM? What do you know about the position for which you're applying? How did your education prepare you for this job? What makes you a good fit for this position? What was your previous salary? What is your desired salary?, etc.

The second contact was with two team leaders, during which they asked several questions pertaining to my background and what I would be able to bring to the table. Their questions were to be answered in the following format: What Action did you take? What was your Thought Process? What was the Outcome? What did you Learn? What is an example of an Application of what you learned in a different setting? The interview lasted about an hour and a half, after which I asked questions pertaining to the company and the position for about a half hour.

    Interview

They had two people interview me, it lasted around 2 hours. I believe it was 45 minutes for each individual and the last minutes left to ask questions. They had packets to with a ton of questions to ask me about, so that was the reason the interview took so long.

    Interview Questions

    • It was most behavioral questions that focused on teamwork. They are looking for people that can work in a team. Most difficult question: "How did you deal with someone that was not doing their work? How did you handle the situation? What would you change?"   Answer Question
