Associate Test/Validation Engineer Interview

Associate Test/Validation Engineer

I applied through college or university and interviewed at General Motors.

Interview Details – I spoke to them at my university's career fair and was contacted a couple hours later to set up a 30 minute "pre-screen" interview. This was followed by an actual hour-long interview 3 days later on campus. I didn't hear from them for 2 weeks, then got an email to set up a site-visit. I received an offer two days after my visit.

Interview Question – Nothing unexpected. There were no technical questions and only run of mill behavioral questions as well as follow up questions to items on my resume.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – It was a very good offer, but decided to attend graduate school instead.

I applied through college or university and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at General Motors.

Interview Details – GM representatives came to my university and did a first round of interviews. This interview was about 30 minutes and was strictly behavioral. I got a call two weeks later saying that I had made it to the second round of interviews. They flew me to Detroit the following week and had an onsite interview. This interview lasted about an hour and was also all behavioral. Then, the two interviewers gave me a tour of the lab they worked in.

Interview Question – Tell me about a supervisor that you did not trust.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I received an offer, I do not know if you can negotiate salary.

I applied through college or university and the process took 6 weeks - interviewed at General Motors.

Interview Details – The process was really straightforward believe it or not. Applied through school and had a phone interview in the weeks ahead. What was asked were primarily behavior questions which should be easy to answer to. Be confident in yourself, know what you will say, and the interview should go well.

Interview Question – Name a time where you saw something that you thought was wrong and how would you approach a situation like that again in the future.   Answer Question

Project Manager Interview

Project Manager
Atlanta, GA

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at General Motors.

Interview Details – Applied online and heard from Talent Acquisition in a week. They started with standard fielding questions such as what pay, compensation, benefits I was looking for. From there, they stated they would pass me to hiring manager.

I did a phone interview a week later. Then things really dragged. Phone interview went extremely well, and the interviewer was forward and stated that I should stay in touch and I would be recommended for the next round. I didn't hear anything for another month. I had reach out to interviewee at GM for assistance. Took another 2 weeks to get a face-to-face. I didn't hear anything after face-to-face. I was told about 1 month later that they wanted another phone. Talent Acquisition is done by 3rd party and even the managers were complaining how slow it is. Took basically 3 months.

Interview was standard STAR- but all the interviewers said in their mind it's thumbs up or down and they just fill out the form.

Be warned, they might want you but things move very slowly.

Interview Question – How do you handle ambiguity?
How did you handle change you had no control over?
