Technical Architect at Goldman Sachs

No Offer – Interviewed in Jersey City, NJ Jan 2011 – Reviewed Apr 7, 2011

Interview Details – They had a initial 45 minutes of phone interview. Come to know via the recruiter after a week that i need to for for in-person interview. I was called up at 2:00 pm. There were four rounds of 1:1 interviews. Interview level was not not that good that i have heard about them. One of the manager was busy in the production issue so couldn't interview me much. I can make out that they are not looking for an architect but Senior developer kind of person. All the interviews were for 45 minutes each. I performed very well. Finished everything by 5:30 pm. Next told the recruiter about this. Waited for some time and then started asking for feedback every 2-3 days from the recruiter, after 1 month come to know that there is no feedback.
Very very unprofessional attitude from Goldman Sachs. I took one day off to hear no feedback. Will never apply to Goldman Sachs.

Technical Architect at Goldman Sachs

No Offer – Interviewed in New York, NY Aug 2010 – Reviewed Sep 11, 2010

Interview Details – Interviewed process: phone/written test/1:1 by few people. Written test is suitable for just out of school guys. They never asked what I did and how I did it. Focus on some obscure interface/core java concept. Knowledge of the people is not that great with few exceptions. Few people seems to have got in through connections. Those people seem to get intimidated when they see highly qualified/talented people and give wrong feedback. Generally, GS seems to have entangled in some custom frameworks that were built when Java first came in. Majority of the folks who worked there for long time don't seem to understand the recent advances. Most of them seem to have got entangled in fixing those custom frameworks which were written in core java/ some threads programming. So prepare yourself with some core java/ java.util.concurrent interface. And be prepared to answer their frustrations in terms of their questions. Good luck. Other general questions include why GS, recent controversies with GS etc. If you get interviewed by multiple people insist on taking breaks between the interviews.
