    Interview

Technical questions and some academical exercises. Mainly Core Java questions. The usual questions asked by banks whose answers can be found everywhere on the Internet, hence rather useless to assess a candidate. All in all, rather poor experience. I would have thought such roles would involve some smart thinking, but it's all about academical questions, elements of knowledge and willingness to work on the same systems for a long time. Past experience considered very little. They expect you to give the answers they want to hear... which isn't good.

1st. Stage Interview All in all a good experience. Met with 2 current Associates. General behavioural questions, walk me through your cv, why Goldman etc. A few operation specific questions. It sounds obvious but make sure you do relevant research on the division you are applying to. Useful to know the skills required, this will give you an idea of how to answer the questions and to an extent the kind of questions you may be asked.

    Application

I applied online – interviewed at Goldman Sachs in July 2015.

    Interview

The interview process involved a online technical round. 3 questions in 45 minutes. Question were designed to guage proficiency in C++. I would suggest anyone preparing to go through the string manipulation carefully as the questions might be tricky and planning the algorithm would become very difficult because of time pressure if you are not familiar with relevant syntax.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Goldman Sachs (London, England (UK)) in May 2015.

    Interview

I submitted my CV on company's website, and got the interview within 1 week. 1 hour interview with 2 heads (half an hour for each): The first one asked me about some skill-based coding questions; and the second one asked me about some idea-based trading questions and brainteaser questions. Both of them asked me about the education background, experience, and career motivations.

    Interview

I applied through the online system, which requires basic information as well as CV and cover letter. A few weeks later I heard that I would have a phone interview. The interviewer was friendly and asked about my background, interest in finance, programming experience and then a longer technical question about expectation values. The question was tough and I didn't answer it very well so wasn't surprised when they didn't take my application further.

    Interview

Sent off a cover letter and CV and was invited for an interview a month later. Standard competency based questions however I got asked about the logistical aspects of McDonald's and threats that the Post Office industry currently faces due to having worked part-time in both places. These questions were a little more difficult as I was not expecting them, however apart from these two it was fine. So far it's been 1 working day since the interview and I'm still waiting on a reply.

    Interview

The interview was 30 mins long over the phone with a VP. It was a first round interview. Very warm interviewer. On top of asking about my cv and work background, he asked about my interests as well. The interview became more friendly as time passed but I had the feeling the first 5 mins of the interview are crucial, along the lines of walk me through your CV and the questions that follow depend on how well you present yourself and speak about experiences - I wasn't very well rehearsed so didn't ace this bit. As no technical questions were asked, I presumed that they make up their mind quite early in the interview.
