I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at H&M in June 2013.

Interview Details – My initial interview was over the phone with a recruiter in L.A. The interview went well and the recruiter was easy to talk to and outgoing. He then scheduled me for an in person interview about 3 days later
When I first reached the store, I was surprised how busy it was. When I found a sales associate to tell me I was there for an interview, he complemented me on being on time. However, the manager was not. He had apparently written down the wrong time for our interview (should have been a sign) and I had to wait around for 30 minutes.
The interview was pretty basic. First you have to fill out a basic background check. He asked me about my previous jobs, what retail experience I had. He then asked how I would deal with difficult customers and difficult situation. Basic retail interview. I felt I did really well and he told me he would contact me in a few days. However, I never heard anything; not even a sorry you didn't get the job. I am convinced they do not hire anyone over 30, that's the only reason I'm sure I didn't get the job-I have years of experience.

Interview Question – Are you okay with moving between working in the back room and working on the floor?   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at H&M in May 2013.

Interview Details – I applied online a few times and was called out of the blue. I was surprised by the call because I had received an email stating that I didn't meet the qualifications for the position. However, I had modified my resume to include words from the job posting and that's probably what made the difference. I had a phone interview where I was asked about my availability and about my retail experience, and then I was asked to come in the following week. The interview was done by two department managers and the store manager. I was mostly asked about my experience and willingness to work early and late hours. They made it clear that it was a demanding job. A few days later I was called for a second interview but I was asked to bring in my SS card and all identifying information, so I assumed that I was hired. When I got there I found out it was an onboarding and was offered the position with no opportunity for negotiation.

Interview Question – How many items of clothing per day did you process working in stock at your previous job?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There was no option for negotiation. It was explicitly stated.

I applied online and the process took 5 days - interviewed at H&M in April 2013.

Interview Details – You can apply online on their website. After applying they call you to schedule an interview. The first interview, I had two upper level supervisors. They asked me a couple of questions like, "have you ever been late" or "what happens when you have nothing to do?". The 2nd interview asked more questions about my previous jobs and what were my greatest strengths and weaknesses.

Interview Question – The most difficult question to answer was "what was your favorite job and why?".   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I tried to negotiate getting paid a little more than 10.50 but the highest they can pay a part time sales advisor is 10.20. They negotiate well but within the guidelines of their corporate guidelines.

I applied through a staffing agency and the process took a day - interviewed at H&M in December 2013.

Interview Details – I got this interview through a job agency. I met them at a job fair for another company I was interviewing for. They were screening people for the company. If you didn't pass the screening you didn't get to go on and interview with the actual hiring managers. I passed the screening and was asked if I was also interested in being interviewed for H&M. I of course said yes and set up the interview. Anyway I arrived at the interview and it ended up being a group interview with over 10 other people. They of course went around the room and asked us to introduce ourselves. They also asked us basic customer service/retail questions. There was only one question that threw me off guard, "Who is your favorite character from Disney". That was the first question. I thought it was so silly. Anyway, everyone got a chance to speak. I was very nervous considering this was my first time interviewing with this many people but it wasn't so bad.

We were then told to give them our information so they can run a background check and had to hand in a copy of our resume. Since all of us got this interview through the job agency from another job fair, we all had to also submit a formal application online. They took notes throughout the interview and said they would use their notes to determine if we were qualified or not. If they did they'd pull from the online applications that we had to submit and give us a call.

I applied online and the process took 5 weeks - interviewed at H&M in November 2013.

Interview Details – I applied to H&M online, and they ended up calling me maybe 3 weeks later confirming that I was interested in the position, and we had the interview the next day. I went in and the manager who was supposed to interview went home sick so I was interview by another team member, who was extremely nice. He asked me about my previous work experience and how it would translate to this job, asked me about my availability, and then questions like "Why do you want to work at H&M?" "What is it specifically that you like about the store" "Where would you see yourself in H&M in the future (he named off various positions that might be available to employees climbing up the career ladder at H&M), and then he told me I would be contacted within 2-3 weeks for a 2nd interview. 2 1/2 weeks later I got a interview with a manager who asked me to describe myself, and repeated some questions as the first interviewer did. She told me about how she became involved at H&M, as did the first interviewer. She then was asking me to explain my previous job and (since I had no retail experience) she explained to me that at H&M it isn't exactly essential that you have retail experience because they do things differently than other stores. She then told me I was hired and made me sign paperwork and gave me a time and day to start. Though it took a few weeks, the overall experience was extremely positive.

Interview Question – My first interview showed me three sets of values and you had to say what applied most to the work you did at your previous job.It wasn't necessarily difficult, but it was probably the most in depth question asked.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at H&M in August 2013.

Interview Details – I applied to several H&M Stores and received interviews for 3 out of 5. One I declined because i was already offered interviews at my ideal locations. Both were phone interviews, I applied on a thursday and received phone interviews within 3-5 days. The phone interview went great they asked basic questions about why i applied and to name a time when i worked in a team etc. I was then offered a group interview for both. One was a new location the other was for a seasonal position. The new location i had a one on one interview then offered a group interactive interview, both were great!! the interactive interview was INDEEEDDDD INTERACTIVE; we were folding clothes building displays placing ribbons into our wardrobe and even had to build a house with legos while we bounced a ball back and forth between eachother. I thought i did terrible. the seasonal position i did a phone interview then had a group interview. it went great. about a month later i received a call saying both locations want to hire me, and the seasonal position wanted to offer me a permanent position so i went with it. H&M is a Great job opportunity with a lot of great benefits!!! i love it there.

Interview Question – "How much would you like your hourly pay to be?" I was lost on what to say, i didnt want to say something too high or too low, but the wage i did say they up'd it a dollar and i was very satisfied.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – no negotiation, just the long wait to start orientation.

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at H&M in September 2013.

Interview Details – i applied online and got a call for a phone interview the week afterwards.i got asked a few questions about why i applied and such and was then invited for an in person interview. i interviewed with one of the managers and she was very friendly. she introduced herself and how she moved up in the company. then proceeded to ask me a series of basic interview questions, my availability, etc. it felt more like a conversation to an extent than an actual interview so about 10 mins in i felt really comfortable. the interview lasted 30 mins and was given a definite time frame of when i would expect an answer, which was between 3-7 days due to the background check. i was invited for a second interview 2 days after. i was supposed to interview with a dept manager but schedues were changed last minute so i interviewed with anothe rmanager and a dept supervisor. i was asked a few of the questions i was in the first interview. then i was asked to walk the floor and see if there was anything wrong that i saw or what i saw needed improvement. after that i told them what i saw needed improvement and i was offered the job.

Interview Question – i got asked general interview questions (i.e why did i apply? name a time when i had a good/bad customer experience and how i handled it) the one question that threw me for a curve ball was when i was asked about the worst boss i ever had.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – it wasnt much of an negotiation, they offered i accepted.
