I interviewed online. The process took 2 days - interviewed at HGST in February 2011.

The hiring manager haven't even read my resume and wasn't interested in the process as he probably has already chosen a candidate among the group that he plans to screen. Obviously,he already has a candidate in mind to hire. Added to that, the hiring manager was boastful and showed me his superiority complex.

I interviewed online - interviewed at HGST in February 2014.

    Interview Details

Interview was spread out in 2 days. The last interview was supposed to be on Phone from a Director. She didn't called me, neither the interviewer was reachable on phone. The recruiter told me that she will get back to me, didn't. They didn't respond to my email and didn't pick up my phone either. Another week later, I used a different number to call and got the recruiter and then he told me that they have identified someone else for this position. I got this sense from day 2, but why are they to reluctant to provide me a 1 line answer? WEIRD. There is something dysfunctional somewhere.

I interviewed online. The process took 2 days - interviewed at HGST in February 2013.

    Interview Details

I applied online on the HGST careers page and I was scheduled to come on-site for an interview in about a month's time.
The HR sent me a long list of forms to fill and also send me directions which were incorrect.
The HGST campus is situated in Evergreen, San Jose. Its an amazing location, just at the foothills of green mountains.
The interviews went really really. Since I came from the supplier side, I really knew what the company was upto.
Interviews went well. I felt over-qualified for both roles. Both jobs didn't need an engineering degree ad consequently the pay was very uncompetitive.
After the interviews , I received zero communication from HR. I think HR is non-existent at HGST.
Overall the work atmosphere seemed negative. After WD acquisition, many senior people were retiring and HGST is back-filling those positions with junior guys.

Very professional interview. About 7 individual interviews with the team + a 1hr presentation. The interviewers were very friendly. The questions were mostly technical with few that were behavioral like why should we hire you?, What are your strengths/weaknesses?, etc.

The presentation is a very helpful thing. It saves the candidate some time when doing the individual interviews.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
