Starbucks Barista Interview

Starbucks Barista
Richmond, CA

I applied in-person and the process took 2 days - interviewed at HMSHost in February 2014.

Interview Details – Saw several openings for Starbucks at YVR, first found them online while searching for jobs. Applied in person where I filled out a form and submitted it along with my resume. I had an one-to-one interview two days later -- first with the hiring manager and then the actual manager. Questions were very simple, general interview questions. After the interviews were over, I was told to wait about a week or so for a phone call.

Interview Question – Basic interview questions and one or two scenario questions, nothing that hard.   Answer Question

Shift Supervisor Interview

Shift Supervisor
Waterfall, PA

I applied online - interviewed at HMSHost in June 2013.

Interview Details – The interview seemed to go well. I talked to a hiring manager on the phone and then had an in store interview at the travel plaza. She said she thought I was qualified for the position and told me that I would get a call for the next interview, as the next person doing the interview had a busy work load. That call never came.

Interview Question – My personal most difficult question was what I wanted to do in the future, as I have a degree in something completely different than what I was applying for.   Answer Question

Assistant Buyer Interview

Assistant Buyer
Bethesda, MD

The process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at HMSHost in September 2011.

Interview Details – I was first called on the phone and asked to schedule an interview. I went in and spoke with four different interviewers, one at a time. They mentioned that they expected the entire interview process to take about a month and that there would be a second round of interviews before a candidate was chosen. My overall perception of the people was that they were professional and would be a good team to work with. I accepted another job a couple weeks after this interview and hadn't heard back from them at that time.

I would suggest that other candidates find out what area of their business the position is on the phone prior to the interview if it is not obvious from the job posting and then research that particular area of the business on their web site. It wasn't entirely clear what the job was buying but the posting said food industry and I was under the impression that it was for their consumable side but it ended up being for their apparel side.

Assistant Manager Interview

Assistant Manager
Minneapolis, MN

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at HMSHost in June 2011.

Interview Details – I had applied for a position at the Minneapolis Airport in February, but there were none open at the time. I received a call from the assistant GM in June to see if I was still interested since they received my application back in February. I knew a guy that works there, so I got an interview because of him. I interviewed with the Assistant GM a few days later. My application was passed on to the area manager of the location I'd be working (area manager is below Assistant GM) and after a miscommunication on the scheduled interview, received a call to do the interview over the phone. Both interviews consisted of basic questions that you'd find in most interviews.

I was told I'd hear back in a few days, however, I never heard back.
