Assistant Vice President/Financial Crimes Compliance Interview

I applied online. The process took 4+ monthsinterviewed at HSBC Holdings.

    Interview Details

Interview process took over 4 months. As I did not use a headhunter, I dealt directly with the HR consultants HSBC uses. They were polite, friendly and very informative. Delays were a result of significant waiting from outside the team for internal approvals. I interviewed first with HR as a screen, then phone interview with head of Team, then in-person group interview with head of Team and second in charge followed by phone interview with global head of Team.

    Interview Questions
    • Questions were focused on my experiences and background as opposed to standard interview questions.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
There was very little negotiation. I was asked what salary I needed to accept and that was what was ultimately offered.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at HSBC Holdings.

    Interview Details

Three rounds including phone interview with HR, meeting the Global Head and then the rest of the team members of 10+ people. Asked some technicals, transaction experience, and questions to grasp if the candidate has strong interest in the group. Strong group in the industry. Office space wasn't as impressive especially if you'll be working long IB hours.

    Interview Questions
    • Not too many difficult questions, just prepare for the technicals and understand logically how to answer even if you don't know the right answer as it will help show your thinking process to the interviewer   Answer Question

I had a phone interview with 3 associates. Then was invited to meet with the group's head. After this HR contacted me again to meet with 4 more people, one Managing Director and 3 Associates. HR has been giving me feedback all along and has kept me up to date on the progress of the process.

    Interview Questions
    • Questions have been mostly about fit and previous experience, no hard technical questions (yet).   Answer Question

    Premier Relationship Manager Interview

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at HSBC Holdings.

    Interview Details

Applied online and had 3-4 interviews before getting an offer; met with local manager, senior management, and branch staff. Senior management promises the world and then you start and realize that they said things that were 180 degrees different than the reality. Get any and every expectation in writing! An email, something- about the location you'll work in, the hours, etc. Logically you would expect management to be somewhat accurate about your job, because why hire someone who will not be a fit or quit right away. But they need bodies in the jobs and retention of employees doesn't seem like a concern. Pay attention to little signs- I felt like there was some friction in the location I'm in at the interview but dismissed it, but there's been a lot of turnover and every employee in the office is looking at other jobs

    Interview Questions
    • Nothing unexpected; typical interview questions. The pay structure was unexpected- HSBC pays everyone now a "discretionary" bonus v a bonus based on production numbers (of course, it really is about x numbers of products sold...).   View Answer
    • Not unexpected but was asked to do a role play with the manager as a new customer   View Answer
    Negotiation Details
I asked for a base pay that I was told needed an exception to approve (not really higher than industry average so I don't know if that was true), but no push back and I got what I'd asked for. Background check was a mess- everything is through a contact center in India so expect to be asked for documents over and over again (past W-2s etc). Urine drug test required as the last step. I regret not asking for more clarity about the work environment (some branches have the majority of their clients who's primary language isn't English, so you'll automatically lose an opportunity to work with those clients if you don't speak their language) . The stated goals in the interview process were very different than the actual goals I learned of once I started working

    Account Executive Interview

multiple step interview process for low initial offerings. which, unfortunately, has become a staple in this job market. atleast 20% lower than competitors for same position/industry. even after renegotiating, the ceiling was low. the company in itself is large and carries notoriety. you can establish industry connections that may further advance your opportunities in the future. but for now, you would settle for a less competitive pay scale.

    Interview Questions
    • basic interview process. no real surprises. best advice: know yourself. only know enough about the company to show your interest. the rest is about you and your relevance to them.   Answer Question

I applied online – interviewed at HSBC Holdings.

    Interview Details

I received an email to take the online test. Few days later, I received another email asking for phone interview with two people. Few days later, I was invited again for the superday. The process was quite fast and efficient. At the superday, we had to do a group case study. A research paper was given and had to read within 40 minutes and give a group presentation for 10 min, with another Q&A session for 20 min.
