Difficult Interview

Infrastructure Specialist Interview

Infrastructure Specialist
Cupertino, CA

I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Hewlett-Packard in March 2008.

Interview Details – The interview was very complete, consisting of; a telephone screen, a telephone interview, 1 on 1 in person interview, group interview (4 of them and me), and 7 requests to program in; perl(2), C(1), java(1) and SQL(3). The requests were awkward because I had to write the code on a chalk board, not in an IDE, so as to compile the code to test it's validity :-(

Interview Question – If you had to redesign an underground, problematic mass transit, what would be your first steps?   View Answer

Reason for Declining – The offer was too small. I have friends working in the valley, at other companies, who started at their respective companies, making $23,000 and $26,000 more.

Infrastructure Specialist Interview

Infrastructure Specialist
Houston, TX

The process took 2 days - interviewed at Hewlett-Packard in December 2009.

Interview Details – Had a couple of pre-screening interview for a position of Infrastructure lead (Dont remember the exact title). First round was with recruiter who asked some general questions and expectations and goal, Why do you want to move to a new company etc.
Second round was more technical in nature, unfortunatly the technology was something i was not famiiar with and i think thats where I lost it. Mostly key technical questions like how would you install an AD Domain controller after a crash.

Interview Question – What would you do if a Domain controller crashed and you need to promote a new box to domain controller with the least disruption?   View Answer

Infrastructure Associate Interview

Infrastructure Associate
Auburn Hills, MI

I applied through an employee referral and the process took a day - interviewed at Hewlett-Packard in June 2007.

Interview Details – I was an Intern with the company and my manager asked for a meeting to discuss full time employment. I was able to demonstrate my skills as an intern in the months leading up to the interview and when budget became available for a new hire, I was the top candidate walking in.

Interview Question – Would you like time off before you start?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No. I was asked what I thought I was worth and how much I should get paid but that was already established.
