    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Tallahassee, FL) in April 2011.

    Interview

I was originally hired by EDS years ago. I submitted my resume on line over a weekend and was contacted the Monday after that for an interview and was hired. For HP, when I was promoted to Project Manager, the account actually called me into the office and asked me to take the position. The only interview I did was with the recruiter who basically determines if you meet the basic requirements for the position. Normally, if you pass that interview, the account will then conduct it's own interview and determine if they want to hire you. It's pretty straight forward.

Customer Project Program Manager V Interview

Anonymous Employee in Falls Church, VA
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Falls Church, VA) in April 2011.

    Interview

The process wasn't difficult, but was very frustrating. HP would call and say they were interested, then it could be weeks before I would hear from them again. Phone calls were rarely returned. The interview was straightforward, very skills and experienced based. Very little information on job duties, customer or company expectations was given. I couldn't get an answer if the position was currently vacant; it appeared they were getting resumes to put on a bid instead of filling a position. There were very few answers to my questions, weather it was about benefits or program organization. Afterward HR told me they were interested. As time went on communications got further apart. I wrote them off.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Austin, TX) in March 2011.

    Interview

There was a phone screening held by three hiring managers. The manager for the job for which I was interviewing didn't call me back, but another one of the managers did. She called me in for a face to face interview with herself and one team member. Overall it was a pretty short process and I was offered the job a few days later.

    Interview Questions

    • The questions were pretty standard, covering past experience with some competency based questions. All in all it was a pretty easy interview process.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

There was no negotiating on salary. It was a take it or leave it offer with three days to respond.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Plano, TX) in February 2011.

    Interview

Internal interview with boss who I expressed an interest in creating the job position for the group. She listened to what I said then asked several peers of higher job level if I was capable. However, it took her 2 - 3 months to come back to me with the proposal.

    Negotiation

Tried to negotiate a job movement up. Instead, I got a lateral movement. No, salary increase either. I suggest that it is discussed at the first time to set the expectations.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6+ weeksinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Colorado Springs, CO) in January 2011.

    Interview

Good interviewers. However, interview process took over 45 days. Asked HP interviewer why process takes so long and he said that sometimes job reqs get canceled, or management wants to hold out for 'ideal' candiate.
Guess HP doesn't get too many 'ideal' candidates and I had different experience with DELL-from time of first call, to final interview, was 3 weeks with job offer/benefits, etc. I accepted DELL job. DELL seems to have a sense of urgency/action when hiring folks.

    Reasons for Declining

Took too long for HP to decide whether to offer the position, even though I was told that I was the ideal candidate.

I applied online. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Dallas, TX) in January 2011.

    Interview

Was not interviewed by HP. I was an employee of one of the many companies they acquired, so I was absorbed into the work force. I'm not sure how the interview process works for new hires. The process for contractors is easy from what I've heard.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Hewlett-Packard (Tallahassee, FL) in June 2010.

    Interview

Hired on-the-spot with no interview process. There was no "corporate orientation," I just started working. No on-the-job training, and they don't pay for renewal of certification (e.g., PMP) that they push you to get.

    Interview Questions

    • Like I said, there weren't any questions or interview.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

No negotiations - I just got the going rate.
