I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Huntington Learning Centers in October 2014.

    Interview Details

After sending in my resume and talking with the owner, I went to the center to take a mock SAT exam. After I finished, my exam was hand graded. My verbal scores were in the low 90 percentiles, which was sufficient. I don't know the math score percentile, but mine was sufficient.

Attended an open house at my local center and had to bring my resume and cover letter. Received an e-mail about 3 days later that I had been offered an interview slot. About a 30 minute interview on my tutoring experience and how I would handle certain situations with potential students.

I applied online – interviewed at Huntington Learning Centers.

    Interview Details

Very simple process, took an ACT math and science test. Once the results show an understanding of the test a more detailed interview process began. Asked questions about past teaching experience and how you handle yourself in difficult teaching situations. Such as if a student is unwilling to learn or put forth any effort.

    SAT/ACT Math Tutor Interview

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Huntington Learning Centers in August 2013.

    Interview Details

I called the Center and confirmed that they had openings, then I emailed my cover letter, resume and New Jersey Math Certification. The Center called within a few days and set up an appointment for an Interview within the next few days. After one Interview, I was told that I would be contacted if the Director approved and my Background Check was approved within a few days. Upon receiving the call that I am approved, I was asked to take the Math portion of the SAT to confirm that I would score high enough to Tutor. Upon scoring high enough, I was offered the position. I was given access to online Training Modules and after those were complete, I was given the opportunity to shadow multiple Tutors for about a week, after which I was approved for solo Tutoring of students assigned to me. Overall, the Interview and Hiring Process at Huntington was very positive for me.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Huntington Learning Centers.

    Interview Details

I went into my center with my resume and followed up a week later, at which point I was scheduled for an interview. The interview was relaxed and pleasant. I was told that I was given the job and asked to schedule a time to take a practice ACT exam. I came in and took it and began my training the next day. Shortly after training, I was scheduled for job shadowing. The process was easy, but it didn't cut corners. I felt fully prepared to begin work after going through training and shadowing.

    Tutor Interview

I was called in for an interview with one person in the small building. I was then called back to take an exam--my choice of SAT or ACT. I chose SAT. A few days later, I was called (by the same initial interviewee) with exam results, and asked when I could start. They are supposed to give you a set number of training hours, but they basically throw you in. During training, you're paid minimum wage. Thereafter, you may get $12 for the "learning center" (anyone not there for exam prep, 4 students per tutor), $14 for exam prep students (one student per tutor), and minimum wage for any "admin time." Even when I was promised a flat rate of $15, I never received it. I was there longer than everyone else--except one or two people--and never got any 'actual' raise. Students pay $50-60/hour to be there. Really, you're better off going through Wyzant or a similar tutoring site.
