Rotational Development Associate at Intuit

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Nov 2012 – Reviewed Feb 21, 2013

Interview Details – Intuit recruits at my campus so I applied at our career fair. I had two on campus interviews, 30 mins each. One was a very traditional behavioral interview, "Tell me a time...". The other was a case study, they read me a short scenario, gave me five-ten minutes to think, then asked me to talk through my though process.

Next they flew me out to HQ for an "Open House" which consisted of three interviews and a day of activities/interactions with employees. I believe you are being pretty thoroughly evaluated all day. The interviews were almost identical to the on campus ones, two behavioral, one case.

Overall it was a pleasant and quick interview process, good people, great company.

Interview Question – The cases were the most difficult, they weren't all that in depth, but you could tell they expected a lot out of your answers.   Answer Question

Rotational Development Program Associate - Software Engineer at Intuit

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Mountain View, CA Nov 2011 – Reviewed Dec 12, 2011

Interview Details – Submitted a resume through their recruiting website, and contacted a current employee to pass my resume along. Was contacted to set up a phone interview, which consisted of two 45 minute mostly-technical questions, including reviewing and writing some code in a shared Google doc. From here, was invited to visit on-site in Mountain View. This on-site interview process (which lasted most of a day) consisted of some general presentations about the company and position, several one-on-one interviews which were a good balance between technical and behavioral in nature, lunch, a campus tour, and some additional demo/Q&A type sessions. I found the campus to be very appealing, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and a great atmosphere. The workspaces did not come across like a standard cubicle farm, it felt a lot more modern and appealing.

Negotiation Details – Asked them to match another offer from a different company, they didn't fully close the gap but did come back with a competitive offer, which I felt was acceptable.

No Offer – Interviewed in Mountain View, CA Oct 2011 – Reviewed Nov 30, 2011

Interview Details – An HR person at Intuit contacted me to let me know that I would be having two thirty-minute phone interviews back to back, where I would call in to a conference line and each interviewer would be on the line at a prescribed time. However, when I called in for my first interview, there was no one on the line. I stayed on the line and called both HR contacts I had (from another phone), but neither picked up. Eventually, the second interviewer came on the line and asked some fairly basic behavioral questions.

HR then called me the next day to reschedule the first interview for later in the week, and when I dialed in a second time, I was listening to a dead line again. Finally, the next week, I completed the other phone interview, which consisted of behavioral questions along the same lines as those of the first interview. Then, it took two weeks, three emails and two phone calls to HR in order to receive an automated response informing me that I would not continue on in the process.

I enjoyed the people I spoke with...when I could get a hold of them. They seemed down to earth and friendly, and each emphasized the unique company culture at Intuit. However, I was extremely unimpressed and put off by the entire interview process overall.

Interview Question – Describe a time when you had to solve an unexpected problem on the fly.   Answer Question

Rotational Development Program Associate at Intuit

No Offer – Interviewed in Mountain View, CA Mar 2010 – Reviewed Mar 23, 2010

Interview Details – The first round of interviews took place over the phone, and consisted of 2 30-minute interviews. The first interview had a case question about the benefits of a new solution the company was considering. The case was different from regular consulting ones, in that the questions are more high-level without much emphasis on quantitative skills. They wanted to walk with you through your thought process, so it's important to immediately start structuring your answer in your mind as soon as you hear the question.

The final round was held at their Mountain View office and was from 8am to 3pm. There were three 30 minute interviews throughout the day, interspersed with product demos, a campus tour and chatting with other RDP associates. Fit is really important here; I think I didn't get an offer because I wasn't proactive enough about talking to the other associates during the downtimes.

They are very friendly and casual, but assess your interactions outside of interviews as much as the interviews themselves. Two of the interviews were behavioural, and there was one case interview - also very high-level, looking for creativity and the ability to think outside of the box.

Rotational Associate at Intuit

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Mountain View, CA Mar 2007 – Reviewed Oct 20, 2009

Interview Details – Recruiters were very nice throughout and made the interview process clear. I attended a career fair and submitted my resume to my college's career website. I was invited to go to Intuit for an on campus interview/open house. The open house consisted of three interviews with Intuit employees of various levels, casual lunch, tour of campus, product demo, and words from a senior leader. The interviews were behavior and tested for fit. Be sure to know your resume and share specific examples to help them understand your accomplishments. I was also asked an open ended question to test how I solve problems.

Interview Question – Tell us about a leadership experience that you are most proud of and why.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation. Intuit makes an offer based on market rates and for this position, is not flexible on the pay.

No Offer – Interviewed in Feb 2012 – Reviewed Mar 12, 2012

Interview Details – So far the worst company I have interacted with. I received a call while passing through airport security and was thus unable to answer it. However, I promptly responded to the voicemail which was from the Intuit recruiter. The message was asking me if I was free for a phone interview the very next day and the day after. As I going for another interview the next day I wouldn't be free for an interview the next day.
When I was finally able to get through to the recruiter after calling her back a few times within the hour and explained the situation to her, she said "Well it doesn't really matter anyway, when I called you and you didn't pick up I just called the next candidate. I don't think we are going to ask anymore people to interview for the position anymore." Needless to say, the recruiter's hasty interview process without any professional regard for candidates' time has left a negative impression on me.

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Nov 2010 – Reviewed Dec 15, 2010

Interview Details – One on-campus interview. Three interviews at Intuit. Most interviews are behavioral except for one interview on-site that is a case question. The program seems very well-designed and it Intuit really takes the time to put lots of resources into its candidates. I would advice people to study up on the STAR interview method and be prepared to give detailed scenarios of experiences that display a certain trait that they have. Working culture seems good and everyone that I met at the office is really nice. However, since the interviews were all very similar, it was hard to tell if I did well or not.

Interview Question – How would you introduce a new product in a new country. What steps would you go through?   Answer Question
