    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at J. C. Penney (Roseville, MN).

    Interview

Filled out an online application, received a call from one of the managers a few weeks later. Scheduled an interview for same day, showed up early and interviewed earlier than the scheduled time. Typical "tell me a time when..." style interview questions, and the manager really talked up the store. Was thanked for my time and told I could leave, and then caught as I was walking out to come back and talk to the head store manager (a little unprofessional that there was a miscommunication here) and he asked the same questions the other manager asked. Then was told the first manager wanted to speak to me again, and was offered a position and told the starting wages and what I would need to bring to orientation. Was scheduled for orientation within the next two weeks.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 daysinterviewed at J. C. Penney (The Woodlands, TX) in June 2015.

    Interview

There were around 9-10 people who showed up, it is required/highly recommended to wear business casual clothing since that is the dress code of the company. We were split into groups of 4-5 people for a group interview. In the first room, we were encouraged to introduce ourselves to the other interviewees and talk among ourselves. We were given sheets with four ideas on them and we had to choose one idea to create a pitch. At the end, we voted for who had the best pitch idea and that was it. In the second room, we had 10 seconds to look at a picture and 1 minute to describe the picture to our teammates so they could assemble it with different colored wooden blocks. The entire interview lasted around one hour. I smiled a lot during my interview and made sure to dress professionally to make a good first impression.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at J. C. Penney (Torrance, CA).

    Interview

Really innovative large group interview. They set up little ice breakers, then a game/contest type of thing where we tried to create a sales pitch and convince everybody to pick a way to bring in the most customers/sales.

A lot of the girls there were really fake and picked the most stupid unrealistic things, yet they were favored by the group. Totally annoying and awkward hiring process. Great for the extrovert narcissistic type people.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at J. C. Penney (Pittsburgh, PA).

    Interview

I was interviewed by the manager of women's wear and then the store manager. Each interview took approximately 15 minutes. Once the first manager approved, she needed to seek the approval of the manager of the store. I imagine that if the first interview doesn't go well, you will not speak with the second manager. This could help you to gauge how the interview went.

    I applied online – interviewed at J. C. Penney in June 2015.

    Interview

Went in for a group interview called a talent tryout with four other applicants. First we were given 10 minutes to come up with a one minute pitch for new ideas for the store. After that we were given the task of building a structure together, we each had two 10 second turns to look at the example of the structure we were supposed to build, then given one minute to explain to the other group members how to put it together.

    Application

    Interview

The hiring manager called me in for a quick 15 minute interview shortly after putting in my resume and application in the database. The interview was super quick, and frankly, I felt like they were rushing to fill the job. My main issue with the interview was when the manager basically asked me to come into orientation the next day. I had not told him that I had accepted the job offer, and I felt pressured to take the offer, even when I was waiting for other job offers.

    Interview

Long but easy process. First I had a phone interview, then a group interview and finally a one on one interview. Not alot of crazy questions. The group interview consisted of building blocks and then picking an idea and making a pitch to the group. The one on one interview was on the sales floor with a roll play senerio.

    Application

I applied online – interviewed at J. C. Penney (Lansing, MI) in June 2015.

    Interview

I was asked to come in for a group interview less than a week after applying online. There was only three of us that were there. The interviewer asked us all to introduce ourselves and talk a little bit about us. After that, she asked us a series of questions about customer service. Following this segment, she described the position that we were applying for and what would be required of us. Lastly she opened the group to any questions we might have. The whole interview lasted about an hour and was pretty relaxed. I feel like we all did very well!

    Application

    Interview

They called me the day after I applied online. They gave me a phone-interview and asked if I could come in the next day for a group interview. There were five of us total and we performed a team exercise-- each of us had a turn to look at a model on an iPad for 10 seconds and then we had to describe how to build it to our teammates. It was fun and very laid-back. Then we were individually pulled aside and they told me I got the job! Everybody was really nice.. this was the most fun interview I've ever had.
