    First you will have an initial phone interview. Next you will interview with a store leader in the store they are thinking of placing you. Lastly, you will interview with the district leader, which could be quite a bit of distance from your potential store location, but worth it if you get that far into the process.

    Interview

    Interview took a few weeks total. I was first given a phone interview where they asked basic personality questions such as "Where do you see yourself in 5 years" and "What kind of retail experiences you have". Questions such as what is sales margin, and retail formulas were asked. Then they flew me out to their corpoate offices in Dallas and we went through a panel, and then more interviews and questions.

    Applied online. First there was a phone interview with the HR rep. Then a one on one interview with the store manager of the JCPenney you would be interning at. And then there was another phone interview with the district manager.

    The first interview was the most nerve wracking and intense but after that it actually got much easier

    I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at J. C. Penney (Miami, FL) in May 2011.

    Interview

    There were 3 interviews in total. The first was with the campus recruiter over the phone which lasted about 30 minutes. If you pass that one she schedules an interview with the Store Manager. It is a 2 hour long interview all behavioral based questions. If you move on to the last interview she schedules a phone interview with the District Manager of the the geographic location you want to work. This interview last around 30-45 mins and is also all behavioral questions.

    There was no negotiation. It is a set wage at $14/hr. Which isn't bad at all for an internship.

    The interview was a detailed Behavioral based interview that focused on 9 key job competencies. Which were Drive for results, Influencing, Adaptive Performance, Customer Focus, Organizing, Leading Diversity, Leading People, Communication and problem solving. The initial part of the interview was designed to create a relaxing atmosphere.
