I applied through an employee referral - interviewed at KPMG in January 2009.

Interview Details – The interview process started with a campus interview, and then a referral to the office of my choice. Once I made it past the first round, I was flown into the city of my choosing to interview with senior managers and partners of the firm at the firm's local office.

Interview Question – None of the questions were truly difficult. They did not extend upon the typical textbook behavioral questions that are asked on most interviews.   Answer Question

I applied in-person and interviewed at KPMG.

Interview Details – I was able to get an interview through a friend. I interviewed directly with a partner rather than having to go through a recruiter.

Interview Question – The partner stated that sometimes there is no room for upward mobility and you have to just wait. How long are you willing to wait?   View Answer

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 months - interviewed at KPMG in March 2010.

Interview Details – Since it was through my college, I got the invitation to interview for the first round on campus.

First Round:
I met with a Sr. Associate before the interview with whom I had casual conversation about what I studied and all. Though it might not be termed as an interview, the person is evaluating your behavioral and communication skills. I was then escorted by him to the interview room where I met my interviewer who was a manager in the firm. It was the most unpleasant experience as it started with negative questions and comments, to which I was defending my position for the 1/2 hr. It might be one of the interview technique but never heard of it being practiced in Big 4. I learned from other interviewees that they had a similar experience. FYI: after I received the offer I made the HR aware of the experience and it was take very well and I hope they fixed the problem. After 2 weeks I heard back from HR that I was selected for the second round. Work of advice: Prepare well as you never know what might come your way. The interview was little technical and mainly behavioral.

 Second Round:
This constituted a day long process of presentation, group-activity, breakfast, lunch, and two personal interviews. There were close to 30-40 interviewees with me, which was quite intimidating. Keep your spirits high to sustain the pressure. First, a partner gave a presentation of the business and the positions available. This was followed by formation of small groups to which a person was assigned to explain one of the key benefit of working at KPMG for which we had to prepare a small skit. This can be challenging as its matter of 5-10mins that you are asked to collaborate with 5 other interviewees and come up with a skit. I decided to be engaged but could not take a lead. This was the eye-opener of the level of people you will be competing with. This was followed by lunch with staff level employees, so be prepared for some good questions to show them your interest and commitment towards the company. You might wonder if all this is required, but now I participate in campus recruitment and we do give feedback about the interviewees we talked to. So be prepared to present your A game. After this there were two rounds of interview with Manager/Sr. Manager/Partner level people. Again little technical and more behavioral. Resources that helped me was glassdoor questions, general behavioral questions list, thorough research about the position and the structure of the company...and last but not the least Youtube. Yes! I saw couple of interviews of C level KPMG executives talking about the practice, problems facing the industry and practice, and outlook of growth in the coming years. This gave me the tools to speak their language and be well read of their problems and opportunities. This was the biggest help and probably a game changer.

I received a call after approx 20 days informing about the offer which I happily accepted! Hope this helped.

IT Advisory - Associate Interview

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at KPMG in March 2012.

Interview Details – First i applied through my campus university website. I got invited to an on campus interview. The night before i attended a pre-interview dinner at a restaurant. The next day i had an on campus 30 minute interview 1:1 with a senior IT Associate. I met my interviewer the night before at the dinner. The dinner plus the on campus interview was very relaxed and casual.

After my on campus interview the next day i got a call inviting me to attend the second round interview in 5 days. The second round interview was 8 hours long. It consisted of presentations , team building exercise, 2 back to back interviews, and then dinner. This whole 8 hour day is very relaxed and nothing to worry about. The people that work for KPMG are great people and very kind. All the interviews you will have with them will be conversational based. Just talk to them. They want to hear about you and what you know.

So then two weeks later i got the "Congratulations" Call.

Hope this helps!

I applied through college or university and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at KPMG in February 2012.

Interview Details – The interview process began about 2 weeks after the career fair at my university. The night before the interview there was a meet and greet at a local upscale restaurant. This gave all the candidates and opportunity to meet some of the partners and managers as well as some newly hired associates. These type of events are a great opportunity to speak with the people that could be interviewing you the following day.

The first interview took place on campus and consisted of a 1:1 interview by a partner. The interviewer asked basic behavioral questions and we discussed my resume. He also explained the position in great detail. Overall, the interview was relaxed with no surprise questions or anything that I was not expecting.

-Why KPMG?
-Why advisory?

Less than a week after the first interview I was notified that I had been selected for an office visit in Miami. I was given very flexible travel accommodations. Me and the other candidates were picked up from the airport in Miami in an Escalade and taken to the Intercontinental Hotel, which is a very nice hotel located directly adjacent to the KPMG office building. We were offered to be reimbursed for up to $34 for dinner the night before the office visit.

The office visit lasted about 5 hours. All of the candidates gathered in a meeting room and were given several presentations by a recruiter. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We each were interviewed three time by various managers and partners. After the interviews were over, we were taken out to lunch by two managers. Once again, the atmosphere was very relaxed and enjoyable. We then returned to the office, were picked up again, and taken back to the airport.

The whole process was very well structured. They definitely spare no expense to give their interviewees a great experience.

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at KPMG in February 2012.

Interview Details – The interview process was very straight forward. I was initially contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn that was relatively new to the sector that I was working in with my previous employer. The recruiter asked if I would be able to do an informational interview about my sector, which I agreed to, and then from there the relationship developed and she asked if I'd be interested in speaking with another recruiter that handles experienced hires; I agreed.

The second call I did was a phone interview with the experienced hire recruiter, which was more or less her telling me about the opportunities available within the firm. She also asked if I could quickly walk through my resume. Upon describing my experiences, I was asked to come in and interview with a partner and manager.

The first interview was with a partner within the advisory arm. The interview was fantastic. It consisted mostly of describing my experiences leading organizations and consulting teams to deliver products and results for the client. This interview lasted about 45 minutes, and was really more of a conversation than a formal interview.

I then interviewed with 2 managers. The interview was also very conversational with most of the questions asking me to describe leadership and management, as well as a few questions around topics such as "describe metrics that you would use to track the progress and success of merging/restructing organizations." I applied through college or university and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at KPMG in October 2011.

Interview Details – I applied through campus recruiting. Filled out application online and received notice of an interview request from them through my school's career website. After scheduling my interview I received an invitation to a Pre-Interview Event. The event was business casual and I got to meet my interviewer along with other KPMG employees; snacks and refreshments were provided. They played music and we also got to play a game; prizes (KPMG cups) were given to the winning groups. Most of the people were nice although I did come across a few that were a little stand-offish. The interview process was pretty basic. I waited in a room with chairs until my interviewer came to get me. They asked very basic interview questions and nothing about the company. They asked questions like "Describe your experience working in a team," "Explain a time when someone asked you to do something unethical, how did you approach the situation?," and they also asked about strengths/weaknesses.

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at KPMG in October 2011.

Interview Details – The entire process was very well structured. There are 2 stages to the interview: one is on campus and the other is an all expense paid on site visit. Communications are very prompt. The on-site visit consist of two interviews, a tour of the facilities, and lunch. Everyone i met were extremely friendly and positive, this includes senior managers. The campus recruiter took us out for dinner after the offers came out so he could answer any additional questions that we may have and just to hang out with us. The logistics for the on-site visit are well managed with an online booking system that lets you book flights in under 5 minutes. The hotel was very close to the office (literally 5 minutes away). One can tell that they genuinely care about the potential candidates and the employees in that in the wealth of information packets they gave out, there are information for where to find good housing options and tips on where to enjoy yourself in NYC.

Interview Question – Who do you think is ultimately attributable for the financial crisis of 2008?   Answer Question
