Assistant, Legal Department Interview

Assistant, Legal Department
New York, NY

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at King Street Capital Management in April 2012.

Interview Details – First interview with HR. Second interview with administrative manager, was meant to meet more but all others were too busy. Third and final interview - five hours, no break, no food, nothing. Intensive interview with all key members of department to assess if I was a good fit. Offered the position on the spot and HR confirmed they would come back with an offer on Monday.

Interview Question – Discuss your previous experience, how did you get to where you are today?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Offered the position on the spot and HR confirmed they would come back with an offer on Monday. Monday came around, no word. Kept following up and they advised they were finalising a few salary details. Came back to me Friday and said they could not proceed due to immigration issues (I'm Autralian). I am eligible to work in the USA so was quite confused, utterly frustrated at lack of professionalism. I fully disclosed my immigration status from first interview and they never said it would be an issue. Very unprofessional, especially given the inaccurate information their decision was based upon
