I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Kohl's in October 2014.

Interview Details

Filled out the online application and received a call for a group interview a month later. The group interview was with a store manager and there were four other applicants being interviewed as well. The questions were easy and simple basically about current employment, what your availability was, and if you could particularly work weekends and holidays. It's a little over a week later and I still haven't heard back.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Kohl's in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online through Snagajob and the hiring manager reached out to me 2 days later which took me out of surprise because usually I'm the one reaching out to companies I apply to. She called me Tuesday morning, left a message because I was out. I called her the next morning and I was scheduled an interview for Thursday 3pm (I had two time options). I spent the whole day researching all I could about kohls and the interview process.

I arrived super early (almost an hour early!) and as a result I got to meet the hiring manager. I think that worked to my advantage. She was super nice and told me I could look around the store while the others arrived. From reading the interview processes on here, I knew this was going to be a group interview. After some time when I was sure others had arrived I headed back to the employees room. Sure enough there was 3 other people. We sat around a table. There ended up being a total of 8 of us. Two of the managers including the hiring manager interviewed us.

I was fully prepared because from the questions on here. Thanks Glassdoor! Now because we sat around the table, they went around the table and each gave our own responses. Because I was the second person I was still able to give my own responses whereas the others behind me had similar answers or would say "I agree with what she said" or "like she said" That is one disadvantage about group interviews is being able to come up with your own responses. Regardless all but 2 got the job. One of them being a girl with a full sleeved tattoo and several piercings on her face. She also wore a sleeveless shirt. com'on common sense girl! After they asked us questions, the two managers left the room to "look" over our applications. They don't tell you directly you didn't get the job. For those they intend on hiring they say something like "your application was incomplete. Stay behind to complete them" After the 2 that didn't get hired left the room, they told us they wanted to hire us. They had us sign the background form and availability and told us they would call us in a week to start our orientation. One thing I really liked was the managers made us feel welcomed.

    Interview Questions

    Sales Associate/Cashier Interview

Group Interview. It was very general questions which produced very general answers. Wasn't areas where you could stand out in the interview. Pay is non negotiable at 7.45 an hour. I thought that the interview was not a big hit because you couldn't get to know the person nor show the manager what you could bring to the table.

    Interview Questions
    • The questions were general such as: when was a time you went above and beyond for a customer or when was a time when you had a difficult customer and how did you handle it. The questions didn't really get to be tailored to a specific person so they just kept it general.   View Answer

the pay rate was ridiculously low from what I was asking and was told that it wouldn't be an issue to meet my requirements.

Applied via snagajob and was contacted about 2 days later for a group interview. I prepared for the group interview by reading all of these reviews and found it to be quite helpful. After the group interview, I filled out paperwork and met with the store manager a few days later for a 2nd interview. I haven't heard the outcome yet, but it seemed like they were pretty desperate for help.

I was interviewed on the spot and was asked minimal questions. I did not know much at the time of hire and they were well aware it was my first job and they still hired me as a student fresh out of high school. The same day I was interviewed I was hired and came back the following day for training.

It was a group interview, I think there was about six of us sitting in a circle and there was two managers. They would ask a question and each person would have to give their answer after one another.
