Sales Associate (Customer Service, MJM, Jewelry, POS) Interview
I applied online – interviewed at Kohl's.
I applied online and eventually got a call to set up an interview and come in. The interview was extremely easy - tell me about yourself, how do you deal with a difficult customer, etc. After a little while the HR manager told me what was expected in my position and I was immediately given paperwork to fill out and offered the job.
- How would you deal with a difficult customer? Answer Question
No negotiation - start at minimum wage, reviews every August (no matter when you're hired) to determine a raise

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Kohl's.
You fill out an application online, if they are hiring they call you immediately for an interview. They do group interviews and everybody takes turns answering a question. The questions weren't too difficult and the interview didn't last long. After the interview, the hiring process takes about two weeks because they have to interview more people and they do background checks.
- Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a customer or a coworker. Answer Question

I applied through other source. The process took 2+ weeks – interviewed at Kohl's (Cherry Hill, NJ).
Applied by going to the store and completing a paper application. I received a phone call for a group interview within a week. I went in for the group interview which lasted about 25 - 30 minutes, at which time they had those they were interested in stay and complete hiring paperwork - availability forms, background forms, drug testing forms (depending on position). Once background check and drug test came back I received a call with a job offer for seasonal hire within a week of interview. I was offered permanent status after the holiday seasonal ended.
- Giving examples of times you were, i.e. upset by a person, how you helped someone in a bad place turn in around, etc. Answer Question
There was no negotion phase for initial hire, it is what they offer. Promotion time, I negotiated and that was successful.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks – interviewed at Kohl's in June 2014.
I applied online and was called in a week or a little bit over a week. The interview was actually one on one with one of the assistant managers. He asked about myself then asked a couple of scenario questions. He then took me to meet the manager and I talked to him some. He asked me to fill out another reference on my sheet and also asked me to change my availability for an hour before and after the store closed because I would be available. I have never had a job or even been to a interview so this was a whole new experience to me. I just went in as prepared as possible, I smiled, listened, answered questions when they were asked and did my best to create some type of small talk. I do have a theater background so that's where I related most of my answers to. Overall I didn't want to get my hopes up so I kind of pushed it to the back of my mind until I got the call with the job offer and orientation, which was shockingly one on one as well! (Oh, and they never did end up calling any of my references.)
- What would you did if you didn't know the answer to a customers question? 1 Answer
They told me the starting pay, I agreed, no negation took place.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks – interviewed at Kohl's (Phoenix, AZ) in May 2013.
Applied online through Snagajob, was contacted less than a week later to schedule an interview. The interview was scheduled, but was cancelled by the employer about 2 hours beforehand. Rescheduled for later that week. Once I got there, I found out it was going to be a group interview with 7 others. Less than a week after the interview, was contacted that I was being offered a job and then scheduled a time for group orientation.
- There weren't any difficult questions. They asked questions to the entire group and then two or three people volunteered answers, typically. Based on who I know got hired, it seems like they liked the more outgoing people who volunteered more answers. Answer Question
