Part Time POS Associate Interview

Part Time POS Associate

I applied online and interviewed at Kohl's.

Interview Details – I applied on snagajob. I think maybe 2 weeks later I got a call for an interview. It wasn't a group interview like I expected. It was with two employees. The next day they called me to schedule a 2nd interview with the store manager that happened a week later. This was a one on one interview. 9 days later, I got offered the job.

Interview Question – The first interview was about job history and work experience mostly. The second interview with the store manager were behavioral questions.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiating. My advice to people trying to get this job is to be very friendly. Shake people's hands when you meet them and are saying goodbye. Make sure you say "it was nice meeting you!" and other courteous things along those lines. Customer service is key.

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Kohl's.

Interview Details – There was a group interview with about 5 other people. We were escorted to an interview room and were each asked a few questions, then asked the positions we wanted, and that was basically it.

Kohls Sales Associate Interview

Kohls Sales Associate

I applied online and interviewed at Kohl's.

Interview Details – I applied online (on snagajob) and they called me within a week or so and asked if I was interested in an interview the next week. I accepted the offer. When I arrived at customer service for the interview, they told me it was a group interview. There were six of us. We had to fill out another application packet which was pointless because we had all filled them out online upon applying! Anyways, that took a good portion of time, waiting for everyone to complete filling out their information. Next, individually we answered interview questions (each of us took turns going first). I didn't mind the group interview style, but it was obvious that people were getting ideas from the people before them.

After the four interview questions, the manager went on a "rant" about Kohl's cards, basically advertising to us. It felt very forced and uncomfortable and outright unprofessional, especially because he went on about it for a good 15-20 minutes. I didn't come to an interview at Kohl's to buy a credit card... This turned me off instantly and at that point I wanted to leave. The whole interview was money orientated, telling us how employees have a 15% discount and how you can stack Kohl's discounts to save BIG. How easy it was to open a Kohl's card...how you can open the card, buy, save and pay the credit off the same day!! I wasn't buying it. We weren't treated as potential employees.. We were just more customers to advertise to to meet the quota. Great sales pitch... We'll pay you $7.45 an hour so you spend your hard earned cash on our overpriced products, using our credit card so we earn interest!

Other than that whole ordeal, I thought the interview was decent. The managers and other employees seemed nice. Overall, the interview lasted a little over an hour.

They emphasized the references, in the sense that you are required to have two and they were going to call them.

After the horrible impression at the interview, thinking it over that night and telling my S.O. about the experience, I decided I would rather not work for a company whose values/mission I disagree with. The next day, I called the store saying I wasn't interested (I didn't want them bothering my references for a job I wasn't passionate about).

Sales Floor Associate Interview

I applied in-person and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Kohl's in November 2011.

Interview Details – The interview was just like any other. We went into the manager's office and small talk ensued. He asked about previous experience and when I could start. It took him the better part of a month to get back to me, which was uncalled for I think.

Interview Question – There were no difficult questions   Answer Question

Freight/Sales Associate Interview

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Kohl's.

Interview Details – Applied w/ a recommendation from a friend. Two interviews. Both were behavioral but very relaxed and the managers were entertaining and respectful. Hired on the day they called me in for the interview.

Interview Question – Tell us about a time a customer was irritating you and what did you do? (Or something to that effect) The questions, being behavioral weren't very hard.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There wasn't any negotiation in terms of pay. The site managers have no control over that. However, positioning in the store and training were very open to discussion.

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Kohl's.

Interview Details – Applied via snagajob and was contacted about 2 days later for a group interview. I prepared for the group interview by reading all of these reviews and found it to be quite helpful. After the group interview, I filled out paperwork and met with the store manager a few days later for a 2nd interview. I haven't heard the outcome yet, but it seemed like they were pretty desperate for help.

Interview Question – If I called the reference you provided, what would they say good about you and what would they say bad about you   Answer Question

Kohl's Part Time Sales Associate Interview

Kohl's Part Time Sales Associate
Brooklyn, NY

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Kohl's in March 2014.

Interview Details – I applied online and they contacted me by email the day after. You have to show up 15 minutes early to fill out paper work, the usual background check and availability sheet, references and etc. Just pay keen attention to it and fill out everything. The interview questions are pretty basic, "Tell me about yourself", "Where do you see yourself in 10 years", then from there it flows into a conversation to basically determine your personality. Management is friendly and professional, so no worries, just smile. I studied the history and founding of kohl's, wasn't needed.

Interview Question – Nothing really, the questions were pretty basic, i assume it varies by your experience. It was my first retail job, they don't mind training whom ever seems fit. So bring your personality.   Answer Question
