I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Kraft Foods in June 2013.

Interview Details – Two part interview process. First is a screening with HR. The second is an interview with a Senior Brand Manager or higher. I was fortunate or unfortunate to get the head of the Brand Management division. Be prepared for some critical brand questions such as what is your favorite brand and why?

Senior Associate Brand Manager Interview

Senior Associate Brand Manager
Glenview, IL

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Kraft Foods in February 2012.

Interview Details – My first interview was a conversation with HR, followed by a phone screen with a Sr. Brand Manager, followed by a day onsite where I had three interviews. Each of those live interviews was with two people, either Brand Managers or Sr. Brand Managers. Interviews were split evenly between situational questions (Tell me about a time..) and case questions. After I got the job offer, there were standard background checks and then a drug screen. The drug screen was the only part of the process I really disliked. I'm used to urine tests, but this was a hair drug screen, where they literally cut out chunks of my hair. I understand the need to screen out drug users, but this felt extremely invasive.

Interview Question – You are the brand manager of X. What would you do to increase sales of this brand?   View Answer

Associate Brand Manager Interview

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Kraft Foods in June 2012.

Interview Details – Initial phone interview/screen with the recruiter. She sent my information on to the hiring manager in NJ who set up a phone interview with a Marketing Manager. Phone interview took about 1 hour and was mostly behavioral with one case question. The case question was basically....Imagine you are an ABM for the Chips Ahoy brand. You notice sales/revenue is increasing but your total share of the cookie market is decreasing. How would you explain this apparent contradiction? I think I did okay on the behavioral questions but I bombed this case question.

Interview Question – You are an ABM for Chips Ahoy. You notice that sales/revenue is up 5% compared to last year but your total share of the cookie category has declined 5%. How do you explain this apparent contradiction?   View Answers (2)

Associate Brand Manager Interview

Associate Brand Manager
Madison, WI

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at Kraft Foods in October 2011.

Interview Details – Interviewed with two current Associate Brand Managers. Walked them through my resume, discussed current position. Behavioral based questions, preferred STAR method. Marketing case questions: proposed business idea with $250,000 capital investment. Marketing plan for said business. Questions about profits, revenues, marketing expenditures with said business. Why Kraft? Why this position? Ended with questions for them.

Interview Question – Say I'm a venture capitalist, giving you $250,000. What business proposal would you like to see on THIS specific campus and why? Further, how would you market said business and how would you compete with existing businesses?   Answer Question

The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Kraft Foods in February 2008.

Interview Details – I interviewed for the summer ABM position while in business school. The process was very structured - you applied online and then the recruiting team selected people for their "close" list. Interviews were on campus. First round interviews were in the morning; they would call candidates that made it to the final round during lunch and final rounds occurred in the afternoon. Offers were made the following week

Brand Manager Interview

Brand Manager
Lagos (Nigeria)

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Kraft Foods in May 2012.

Interview Details – This was a classic case of an employer not being aware of the need to make a good impression on a potential hire. The recruitment process is definitely not one-sided.
After leaving work early and driving through a 2-hour traffic to get to make the appointment, I was kept waiting for 30 minutes without any explanation.
Then I was called into the interview room where I met 3 individuals: 2 guys from HR and the Marketing Director, who was still taking a phone call. We waited another 5 minutes for the Marketing Director (some short dude with an over-inflated sense of his own importance) to get off the phone, then finally the interview started.
As I answered the questions, the Marketing dude kept trying to assert that I did not know as much as I should, like I needed to really impress him. He kept correcting my answers like I was supposed to have read a specific textbook before coming for the interview. In short it wasn't a very pleasant experience.
About 6 months later, I received a call from the HR guy, asking if I might be interested in trying for another role. I very politely declined. Apparently, they erroneously thought I was desperate to leave my current employer.

Associate Brand Manager Interview

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at Kraft Foods in November 2008.

Interview Details – A very standard, on-campus interview. The school do well to prepare you with types of questions & sometimes the d/l on the interviewer.
In my opinion, if you're really focused on getting a job with Kraft Foods...there's plenty of information out there for you to nail the interview.

Interview Question – A marketing case question - too long ago for me to remember exactly what it was. However, it felt hard because the interviewer keeps digging into your responses till you have nothing more to contribute - It'll feel like you've missed the question when in fact you've gone further than your peers.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Standard package although I did negotiate more vacation for a personal commitment.
