Started out with a 1 on 1 interview. Then a panel interview consisting of 4 higher ups. Each asked 1 question and wrote down your answer. I felt that I was liked, so the interview process went smoothly for me. I've heard of others where they ask insane questions that are impossible to answer.

Wasn't any - they paid more than I was making at the time, so I accepted.

Interviewed with HR coordinator then main HR office. Asked basic behavioral questions. Have to take a simple math test and also a behavioral assessment. After that they called and offered me a salary which I declined and I gave them an amount and a few days later they called back with what I wanted.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Kroger.

    Interview Details

Upon successfully submitting my resume and cover letter through the Kroger website, I was called for a telephone interview. After my telephone interview, I was set up with a one on one with the District Manager for the area in which I wanted to be assigned. Following my one on one interview, I had to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal history background check. I was then offered an opportunity to enter into Kroger's seventeen week management training program. I was provided information on the job description, benefits package and base salary information to be able to make an informed decision about the offered position.

    Interview Questions
    • The question I did not anticipate was "Being in store management can be very stressful, difficult and unexpected things can happen all at one time. How do you handle stress and do you think you could handle the pressure of making important decisions at critical moments?"   View Answer
    Negotiation Details
The negotiation phase was not difficult. After a few telephone calls, a base salary figure was agreed upon and a offer letter was emailed to me.

I was called in for my first interview; last about 40 minutes. I waited about another three weeks before I was offered a second interview. That interview lasted about 30 minutes--it was more of a conversation than an actual interview, which made me more relaxed. After about another three weeks, I received an offer letter in the mail.

I applied online for the co-manager position. I was called to schedule a phone interview, then instructed to take an online assessment, and now I'm waiting to see if I've made it to the next phase in the interview process. I believe there are two more interviews remaining.

I worked in the Kroger deli while going to school to get my bachelors degree. Once I graduated I was eligible to apply for their management training program which is required before becoming a co-manager of a store. The hiring process started with the current Store Co-manager recommending me for the program. I interviewed with the current Store Manager, then the district HR Manager. After being accepted into the program, I switched from a union employee (deli) to management.

    Interview Questions
    • None of the questions were particularly difficult. They used behavioral interviewing questions like "tell me about a time when..." They asked about how I worked through problems, dealt with difficult people, etc.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at Kroger in March 2013.

    Interview Details

The first stage of my interview process was a video conference interview with a Division H.R. Management recruiter at my District office. The next step is a phone interview with a District H.R. manager and a Store manager which I have next week. After that is a panel interview.

    Interview Questions
    • I think the most difficult question for me was my expected salary. I didn't want to undersell myself but I didn't want to overprice myself either. I gave them a base salary but said I was negotiable.   Answer Question
