Co-Manager Interview

Co-Manager
Richmond, VA

I applied through college or university and the process took 6+ weeks - interviewed at Kroger in January 2013.

Interview Details – Multiple interviews, mostly behavioral and then 2 online assessment tests, overall nothing too difficult and seemed like a normal hiring process. Started with a phone interview, then one in person, and finally one with the District Manager for the region I would later be placed. The 2 online tests seemed to both be personality tests, just to help them rank you.

Interview Question – Just be ready to talk about yourself (Strengths/Weaknesses), conflict resolution, and leadership activities   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – An offer was given with no negotiation for me

Co-Manager Interview

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Kroger in August 2012.

Interview Details – Consisted of 2 interviews both one on one. Took a long time between interviews. Had to do 2 online tests before second interview, information from those tests were never mentioned. Second interview was very laid back, just taking about the job, no real questions. Then training process took around 6 months before becoming salary.

Interview Question – If you could buy a new personality trait what would it be?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiating phase.

Co-Manager Interview

Co-Manager
Lynchburg, VA

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Kroger.

Interview Details – Upon successfully submitting my resume and cover letter through the Kroger website, I was called for a telephone interview. After my telephone interview, I was set up with a one on one with the District Manager for the area in which I wanted to be assigned. Following my one on one interview, I had to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal history background check. I was then offered an opportunity to enter into Kroger's seventeen week management training program. I was provided information on the job description, benefits package and base salary information to be able to make an informed decision about the offered position.

Interview Question – The question I did not anticipate was "Being in store management can be very stressful, difficult and unexpected things can happen all at one time. How do you handle stress and do you think you could handle the pressure of making important decisions at critical moments?"   View Answer

Negotiation Details – The negotiation phase was not difficult. After a few telephone calls, a base salary figure was agreed upon and a offer letter was emailed to me.

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Kroger.

Interview Details – I was called in for my first interview; last about 40 minutes. I waited about another three weeks before I was offered a second interview. That interview lasted about 30 minutes--it was more of a conversation than an actual interview, which made me more relaxed. After about another three weeks, I received an offer letter in the mail.

Interview Question – How would your department run if you were to leave today?   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Kroger in December 2013.

Interview Details – I applied online for the co-manager position. I was called to schedule a phone interview, then instructed to take an online assessment, and now I'm waiting to see if I've made it to the next phase in the interview process. I believe there are two more interviews remaining.

Interview Question – My first interview was just going over work history so it wasn't really difficult.   Answer Question

I applied in-person and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Kroger.

Interview Details – I worked in the Kroger deli while going to school to get my bachelors degree. Once I graduated I was eligible to apply for their management training program which is required before becoming a co-manager of a store. The hiring process started with the current Store Co-manager recommending me for the program. I interviewed with the current Store Manager, then the district HR Manager. After being accepted into the program, I switched from a union employee (deli) to management.

Interview Question – None of the questions were particularly difficult. They used behavioral interviewing questions like "tell me about a time when..." They asked about how I worked through problems, dealt with difficult people, etc.   Answer Question
