Personal Training Coordinator Interview (Neutral Experience)
Interviewed at LA Fitness
Interview Details – Interviewer was 45 minutes late and acted like it was as if he was early. Very brief and quiet during interview, I was surprised I was able to hear his questions. Didn't seem too eager to have a career minded individual in front of him eager to work. Brushed me off and said he would call during the day with an answer - never called.
Interview Question – No real difficult questions. Answer Question
Very Easy Interview
Front Desk Interview (Negative Experience; Very Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at LA Fitness.
Interview Details – Applied online, took a week or so for a call to schedule an in person interview the next day. Went in for the interview and the personal training manager (who interviewed me) was 30 minutes late! I was told by the front desk that he was taking his break... He then interviews me which was more of a job description, informing me of the pay (9.10 + commission) and what the hours are like. The only question he asked was "tell me about yourself". After the job description, he told me he would give me a call the same night or the next morning. Never recieved the call, called a couple times to follow up but never was able to reach him.
Interview Question – Tell me about yourself Answer Question
Assistant Operations Manager Interview (Positive Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and interviewed at LA Fitness.
Interview Details – I was contacted by e-mail for my interview. I had only one in-person interview before they said they were going to make a decision.
Interview Question – What do you feel is most challenging about managing? Answer Question
Group Fitness Instructor Interview (Negative Experience; Difficult Interview)
I applied online - interviewed at LA Fitness in March 2012.
Interview Details – Stress Interview. Interviewer wanted me to demo actual parts of my class format, i.e. warmup, cardio, cool down, etc. in an artificial environment, facing her, without any participants.
Interviewer asked me what I get paid at other places I have worked, then she proceeded to have comments that expressed her opinion that the $ amount was too high (!!).
The seated interviewer wrote copious notes, while keeping me standing and waiting. Atmosphere of interviewer was adversarial.
Interview Question – Why don't you have a regular weekly assignment now? View Answer
Very Easy Interview
Front Desk Interview (Positive Experience; Very Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at LA Fitness in January 2012.
Interview Details – Submit app online, they call. Interview with operations manager (they work at the front desk) then you are hired. You train for a couple days then you work alone at the desk. No tests.
Interview Question – Not hard at all, just questions based on previous experience Answer Question
Front Desk Interview (Negative Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied in-person and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at LA Fitness in January 2013.
Interview Details – I went directly to the LA fitness location I was trying to work at and turned in my resume and cover letter. Two days later I called up there to follow up and the hiring manager scheduled an interview with me. The day of the interview the hiring manager called to reschedule the interview for the following day. When I went to my interview I waited for an hour before I was seen. The interview itself went very well. She asked very generic interview questions such as, "Give me 4 adjectives to describe yourself" and "What is your weakness?" She seemed to take a liking to me and told me she'd give me a call by the end of the week. She never called so I followed up the following week. Come to find out the hiring manager was out with the flu and I was asked to follow up later on that week. When I did so, she told me what happened and that she would call me when she's done interviewing all her candidates. She never called back and I loss interest in the position.
Membership Sales Advisor Interview (Negative Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at LA Fitness in January 2013.
Interview Details – Initial phone interview just to go over my resume and probably make sure I was a normal person. Was offered an interview in person but declined because the pay was only $7.50/hr plus commission, which still was really bad for someone with a Bachelor's degree (he said his best sales advisor averages about $12-14/hr).
Interview Question – They all were pretty basic questions about why you like sales, why LA Fitness, do you lead a healthy life, etc. Answer Question
Very Easy Interview
Call Center Interview (Negative Experience; Very Easy Interview)
I applied through an employee referral and interviewed at LA Fitness.
Interview Details – The Manager was apparently too busy to conduct an interview so he passed me on to one of his assistants who just gave a job description. She was nice and so was the manger except the manager was misleading and lead me on for about a month and half telling me he wanted to hire me but he didn't have enough hours to give me.
Interview Question – Do you have experience working at a call center? Answer Question
