    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Lenovo.

    Interview

First I was contacted by HR by email requesting an interview. Then HR conducted a phone screen and then HR setup a call with the hiring manager, who I spoke with a week later I was brought in to interview in person with a couple different people about a month after that. Altogether it took about 2 months from the time of the first contact with HR to getting a written offer. I wasn't in a big hurry so the timing was fine, but it could be frustrating if there is an urgency to getting through the process faster than a couple months.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Lenovo in March 2015.

    Interview

The first interview was via telephone with a team lead and another software engineer. It lasted about an hour and was very friendly. There was a short employment history & behavioral conversation, and a long discussion around technology specific to the project I would be working on. The second interview was an online coding exam. There were four programming problems of equal difficulty designed to test basic programming aptitude (simple algorithms and syntax). The entire test was online, timed (2 hours) and recorded. Results are sent to the interviewers. The third interview was a very brief conversation with the department manager (30 mins). It was basically a review of the skills I could bring to the team and a couple clarifying questions about my resume, along with some additional information about the position. A day after the third interview, I was made an offer.

    Interview

Everyone is concise and they work quickly. They don't ask random questions that are not relevant to the job, I wasn't grilled on whether or not I could do the job, we both know I could. The questions were really about fitting into the culture, quality of your commitments and if your personality was a fit for the team.

    Interview

The hiring process was pretty easy. I participated in a phone interviewe with a representative from CTG and they scheduled me for an interview with Lenovo management. I met with 3 people in management from Lenovo.

    Interview Questions

    • I really can't remember a difficult or unexpected question, but the key is to provide scenarios where you provided resolution. They are big on the idea of resolution and awesome customer experience as opposed to great customer service.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

There really wasn't any opportunity for negotiation. They had a concrete salary they were willing to pay and they were not open to negotiation.

    Interview

Literally ----- THE EASIEST JOB INTERVIEW EVER. It was 15 minutes long. If you have a pulse and can look someone in the eyes you can get the job. Heads up though... the interviewers are very unfriendly and give you NO insight in to how you did. You will typically hear back the same day.
