    Interview

Very quick interview process - one phone interview with an in house recruiter. Interviewed 2 days later on site with 3 separate people. Offer had to go through an approval process so took longer than expected but very quick for a large company,

In general, at Lenovo, we try to move the interview process along. Typically a recruiter would speak with you first. Afterwards a Hiring Manager would interview you with a decision within a few ... More

    Interview

Everyone is concise and they work quickly. They don't ask random questions that are not relevant to the job, I wasn't grilled on whether or not I could do the job, we both know I could. The questions were really about fitting into the culture, quality of your commitments and if your personality was a fit for the team.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Lenovo.

    Interview

The hiring process was pretty easy. I participated in a phone interviewe with a representative from CTG and they scheduled me for an interview with Lenovo management. I met with 3 people in management from Lenovo.

    Interview Questions

    • I really can't remember a difficult or unexpected question, but the key is to provide scenarios where you provided resolution. They are big on the idea of resolution and awesome customer experience as opposed to great customer service.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

There really wasn't any opportunity for negotiation. They had a concrete salary they were willing to pay and they were not open to negotiation.

    Interview

Literally ----- THE EASIEST JOB INTERVIEW EVER. It was 15 minutes long. If you have a pulse and can look someone in the eyes you can get the job.

Heads up though... the interviewers are very unfriendly and give you NO insight in to how you did. You will typically hear back the same day.

    Interview

Be prepared. Ensure you know the details of the position you are interviewing for. Come prepared with specific questions . The standard ones most likely will be answered so really think about what you want to know. Interview process varies with business unit. Typically phone screen with Talent Acquisition, then manager phone screen, the in person interview.

    Interview Questions

    • This will vary with business unit. Most will want to ensure you will fit well with our culture. Fast paced, changing, global - will ask how you handle this type of environment.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Yes I negotiated. It was expected and fine.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Lenovo (Morrisville, NC) in July 2014.

    Interview

Was referred by a friend who had been with the company for some years. The referral lead to an initial phone interview with the recruiter at CTG to discuss possible openings. I had an Inside Sales interview with another CTG recruiter onsite, which was very brief. When the recruiter called to let me know whey were moving forward with other candidates, she asked if I would be interested in other openings - specifically the Project Manager role. I agreed, and soon thereafter, received a confirmation email to meet with the Manager and team. The interview was lengthy, meeting with the Manager of the division, then two other PMs, then the rest of the team. They asked general questions, nothing our of the ordinary.

    Interview Questions

    • As someone who hasn't worked in the technology field before, what should we hire you? Explain a difficult project assigned to you from beginning to end. And the like.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Because it was considered an entry-level position through a CTG contract, there really was not room for negotiation. I was not working when I received the offer, so I gladly accepted. They offer two salary options with benefits (BCBS v. Tranamerica) which are relatively low salaries; however, there is so much opportunity for growth within the company - and both include vacation/time off, 401k, etc.

    Interview

Most candidates that make it to the interview process are referrals. There are usually two phone interviews, then one face-to-face interview. Questions relate to experience, accomplishments, and describing situations that required you to think outside the box and had paid off.

    Interview Questions

    • All pretty standard, it's not an unusual format by any means.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

I wouldn't advise being picky as they tend to do their best to give the best possible offer upfront.

Lack of good communication during hiring process. Took a while before I understood how they operate which caused some frustration. Overall process was pretty smooth after first interview. New employee orientation is lacking but not too bad.
