The interview questions are the same for every job. You always want to tailor your answers towards what you are interviewing for. That's the trick to getting the job. I've gotten every position I've interviewed for. Don't be afraid to admit times you've made mistakes, but focus more on what you learned than what you messed up.

    • Think of a time when you have someone the wrong information. What happened and how did you deal with it   Answer Question

I did not negotiate. I did not expect a pay raise, and was very happy when I was offered one.

Only did one interview, half was with HR personal and the other half with department manager went very quickly only about 30 minutes all together. But had to wait almost 30 minutes past my scheduled time to be there because HR Personal was on the phone. Customer service had to go back to HR personal twice to remind them that I was there for my interview.

Applied online, got a call back from HR to set up a phone interview the next day. HR called and once done with that interview I got a call back the next day to come in for an in person interview. After that interview I got a call back the following day to come in to meet the manager who has the final say. The manager meeting just seems like a formality to make sure you're competent and basically have the job prior to even meeting them.

You will be called in and asked several questions about scenario's you have faced in past jobs or life experiences. Answer the questions to the best of your ability and be honest. They want to know that you will not flip out on customers or employees. It's actually more difficult to mess up these questions than pass them, you just need to give reasonable answers and think before you speak.

    Interview Questions
    • What makes you the strongest candidate? It doesn't sound difficult but if you're not prepared to analyze yourself and competition without meeting them or being judgmental it can be hard to answer.   Answer Question

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Lowe's in December 2014.

    Interview Details

I first had an interview with the HR manager, she asked situational questions. Mostly about how I dealt with customers at my previous employer. Then I had an interview with the assistant manager, he asked pretty much the same questions. In all they asked between 15-20 questions. They are pretty much easy questions, if you can't think of a particular time of a incident they ask you, just make up an answer.

    Interview Questions
    • The only thing I didn't like was that after I was done with my answer she kept asking so what did you do after that, and then what, and then after that happened what happened then. I really wasn't expecting to give super long descriptions of everything.   Answer Question

Submitted application to 2 different stores at end of April- before summer hiring start. Received phone call from both. First HR interviewed me, then store manager. Asked situational questions. Yes, they do a drug test after offering you a position. For seasonal employees I guess they just look to see that you are a decent person who will be available for the time frame. Little interaction with store manager or HR while on the job.

Did not receive offer from Store 1, probably because I mentioned I would not be available for entire summer. Received offer from Store 2. Believed I clicked with that manager more.

I applied online and the next day I got a call to come in for a interview the following day. Unfortunately, I was about 10 minutes late. The interview was okay. Standard Customer Service situation questions. But I was pretty nervous. The questions were purely situational and they wanted you to be very specific. "Name a time when..." things like that. Be very specific.

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Lowe's in October 2014.

    Interview Details

After an online application, I got a phone call for an interview the next day. I was early, but the HR person was with someone else. I waited in a large employee area with tables & lockers. Employees were pleasant to me. I got a sheet of paper of information which I signed. He asked 5 questions, tell me a time when you handled a situation. Wrote some of my responses, asked if I had questions. I did ask a couple of questions. On the info sheet it said I needed to be able to pick up 200 pounds, and I said I couldn't do that, what was that about? He explained that, then I asked about what was the pay scale. He said it was commensurate with experience. I said I had only listed my last 2 retail jobs on my resume. He said bring or fax in a resume with every bit of retail experience and it would be factored in their automated equation. That covered about 20 years, 8 of which I was an assistant manager or head cashier, and I was called and extended an offer of $10.12. I had projected it would be 8.50 to 10.00. I accepted that.
