Generally, once you have been called in, they have you sin in the HR office with multiple seats and other candidates. But ,unfortunately , you can hear their conversations. So be prepared to say yes to $9.00 hour, for grunt work in the worst time of the year.

I came late but that didn't matter since no one was there and when they finally came I had to wait another 30 minutes. When I finally went to interview with a managet she asked me about 5 questions (i.e. Tell me about a time you were given great customer service) and told me she would call back if they had any open positions. After i left and was headed up the elevator she stopped me and told me they had a postion and asked me to come and fill out paperwork.

Well I applied for the position online after I was sent an e-mail so I can set up an interview time+date. I chose an interview for the nest day. The interview was really easy since I was prepared! I actually came to this sight to see what questions would be ask. I was asked most of these questions.. The interviewer said she really liked me and was going to give a call back the following monday.... She never did-_-
So I took it upon myself to call Tuesday. Long story short she basically gave me the "run around".

I applied online and the next day got an email asking to schedule an interview online. 2 days later i went into the store for the interview and was hired after only a few questions. I filled out paperwork and started training the next day. The questions were simple and the actual interview only took about 15-20 minutes. The woman interviewing me was very friendly so it made the interview easier.

I applied about two weeks before my interview. I had a late start and still arrived early. Was called back about fifteen minutes later than my scheduled 11:30 am interview. I have problems with transportation (the last bus to my house is at 7:45pm) and the interviewer says she needed people who were flexible. She asked me a few questions and I guess she liked me because she went to see if there were positions I could take, such as fitting rooms. At the time, there wasn't, but my name is on file in case something comes up. I actually would have been hired on the spot if I had a ride.

I applied online. The process took 6 days - interviewed at Macy's in October 2011.

    Interview Details

I saw that there was a seasonal sales associate position open for Macy's at snagajob.com so I applied immediately. It took a couple hours or so to finish the application because I took a while on the 12 page questionnaire but over all it was pretty easy. The next day I got an e - mail saying they wanted to invite me to an interview and then I got directed to a page that had a calendar and all the days and times available for an interview. There were about five days open and lots of time slots. I really suggest to interview as soon as possible and not schedule it later just because your nervous its really better to get it over quick because you never know if the person just before you got the job because you were too late.

I scheduled mine for a Tuesday at 11 a.m. and got there about ten minutes early. I was greeted by a friendly woman who gave me a form to fill out with my name, phone number, and then it told me to fill out times I would be available Monday through Sunday and I was only allowed to put a minimum of four hours. I just put random times because I intended to tell my interviewer that I was available anytime they needed me. After I gave her the form I waited a couple minutes and then was called in. During this time almost everyone who was walking by greeted me with a smile and a hello which was very surprising to me because from the reviews I read I was expecting the human resources office to be extremely busy and that I would have to wait a long time before I got called in but it was the exact opposite of my expectations.
The lady who interviewed me was extremely nice and easy going she led me to a small room in the back with two computers and we sat down across from each other it was very relaxed. She started off asking about my previous work experience and then began reading off questions from a paper and wrote down my answers. The interview itself lasted about 15 minutes with a series of about 7 questions. It was very easy and at the end she said they would love to have me working there and that she has a couple positions open we could look at.
After we went back to the main room where I sat and waited a minute or so and then she came back over and offered me a flex on call part time position at $8.67 an hour and I excepted. She said I would even be able to make my own schedule from a computer that would show me shifts available and I would basically get to pick what shifts I want. I filled out another form giving my name, social security number, date of birth, address and some other stuff. When I was done she said to come back the next day at 11 for training.

There are a couple tips someone should follow if you are going to interview at Macy's. First of all make sure to wear black. Black pants, black shoes, and also a black shirt is preferable but white will also be fine although everyone I saw in the office was wearing black or dark clothes. Make sure your answers are a couple minutes long and that they are thought out a little although honestly I didn't prepare that much for the interview but I had a good idea of what the questions would be thanks to Glassdoor. Over all I was extremely surprised and pleased at the interview process and I look forward to working at Macy's.
