    Seasonal Retail Stock Merchandising Interview

Interview was done over the phone. Fairly simple questions about personal experience and why I would be good at the job. Interview took about 5 minutes, which most of the time was spent reading over the job description. There is no room for wage negotiation and was told that the seasonal job ends January 1st. Got a job offer as soon as the interview was over and started the job the next week.

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Macy's.

    Interview Details

online application, email for interview to set up time. Upon going into the office for an interview I was in an office with a man who was the Executive manager for over 15 mins without introducing himself and even after the job was offered to me I then had to ask the man his name... Was interviewed by the dept manager, and didn't introduce herself either... After being hired I was told that even though I had applied for a 5am to 2 pm position that they were changing my schedule to night shift. I was extremely disappointed that I had gone through all the paper work for the hiring process before I was informed of the change in my schedule I informed the man I would have like to have been informed of this before I gave them all of my personal information because I would have respectfully declined then.

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Macy's in October 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online and received an email within a few weeks about scheduling an interview through a website. Everything was automated, meaning I didn't speak to any real human being until the day of the interview. Had a hard time finding the offices with the instructions they sent me since it was a three level store in a mall and I didn't realize the lower level of the store was called a "basement." I thought they meant the mall's basement. After feeling winded from running all over the place trying to find the offices, I was ushered into a small room where I was interviewed by one person. Since I hadn't had a legit interview since 2010, and had never been good at interviewing to start with, I realized it was time to seek help in improving my ability to interview. They let me know--by automated email--within the first day that I was not selected. The person who interviewed me was at least kind, and she complemented me on my outfit.

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Macy's in September 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online and got a response within hours to setup an interview time. This was on a Friday afternoon and the first available interview was Monday. Easy to set up. HR people were super nice while I waited for the interviewer. She was nice, a bit busy, but it wasn't the job I actually wanted. She checked to see if there was an opening in the department I wanted. There was, and after they found the manager of that department, he interviewed me. Really, really nice and easy to talk to. First woman asked typical questions, such as how did you work as part of a team, name a time when you saw an employee do something dishonest and how did you handle it. Overall a super positive interview experience.

    Negotiation Details
There was no negotiation because it is a seasonal job, but that may differ for permanent employment.

    Merchandising/Stock Associate (Seasonal) Interview

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Macy's in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online about 2 weeks ago, and few days after I applied I was emailed to schedule my appointment, but unfortunate for me the earliest I could get was about a week and a half later. Anyway I did my research, I personally decided to wear all black( slacks, black button up, and the darkest shade of brown boots).

I arrived about 15min early, greeted everyone in sight and sat down waiting. Fast forward to the actual interview, my interview was quite pleasant. The department manager was very understanding that this would be my very first official job(even though i've done tons of voluntary work over the past several years). He also explained to me there were 3 type of positions involved in this particular department, which were merchandising/stocking(replenishment), processing( loading and unloading trucks), and pricing(price tagging, etc). I made it clear to him I was interested in the merchandising/stocking position, after a few more questions and scenarios, he said he would like to hire me. I start orientation/training next monday, I'll be more than happy to provide that experience as well if this review is received well.

After our conversation, and his series of questions, he offered me the job. He was very considerate into making sure i was interested in the position, and I happily accepted. Also he mentioned that there will be paid training, but minimum wage(in Chicago, thats $8.25), and after training I would be making $8.50 an hour.

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Macy's in August 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied online, got a message back 5 days later for an appointment. Arrived 30 min early though I didn't get interviewed until a little after my appointed time. Greeted the interviewer, and she asked about my class schedule. Then asked the basic "Why Macy's?" and "Tell me a time when..." questions. Got rejected at the end of the interview since my classes clashed with the work times.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Macy's in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online. Got emailed about two weeks later to schedule an interview online to come in for an in-person interview. Went in about a week after for the interview. My interview went very smoothly. Read off of the sheet of interview questions then went through what was to be expected of the job. She was very nice. At the end, she asked if I had any concerns or questions and I asked about some questions I had. Then she offered me the job and asked me to fill out the needed paperwork right there and said the background check would take 7-10 days and then I would be called back in to finish the paperwork and then orientation would be later and then I would get started.
