I applied online. The process took 1 week - interviewed at Macy's in March 2011.

    Interview Details

I was scheduled for a group interview with two other people inside the Macy's offices. The interview included all of us at the same time with questions on rotation. It was easy to answer the questions such as your strengths and weaknesses, why you want to work for Macy's, and what my goals were after Seasonal work. Overall the interviewer was friendly and the environment lax.

Pretty much I filled out an online application then the next day I got e-mail saying that they want to schedule a interview with me and what I like about when it came to scheduling the interview is that it was done online so I was able to pick the best day and time that worked for me

    I applied in-person - interviewed at Macy's in August 2014.

    Interview Details

Job was posted online about 2 or 3 days prior to me applying to it. I applied on a Thursday. Got an email to schedule an interview the very next day. I scheduled to have my interview as soon as possible which was that Monday morning. When it came time for my interview, I was literally in the room for all of 5 minutes. The interviewer was friendly, but was on her phone texting for majority of the time. She claims, she was trying to "multitask". She asked me a couple of typical questions: Why are you here?, Out of all the candidates I have to interview today, why should I pick you?, What's your availability?. I got the job on the spot. Though it is worth noting the process of actually beginning to work has been stressful. It's been 3 weeks and I have yet to actually start a shift and it's been extremely frustrating. My background check took about a week to clear and then I was able to go in and do the online training, which by the way took 7 and a half hours. So just beware of that. And then I was told to check the online schedule program to see if I was scheduled. Haven't been scheduled yet. They said it usually takes about 2 weeks. So I'm hoping something comes through this weekend. Honestly, the interview was super easy, but I also have customer service experience. So if you don't have customer service experience I would say to use your experience from something else where you have to interact with people. They want to know that you know how to deal with people especially when issues arise and that no matter what you can maintain a professional demeanor. I literally studied Glassdoor the night before, but didn't really need to. I had all the answers already, but if you are worried like others have said, everything you need to know is right on this site. Good Luck!

Nothing. Salary was not even brought up. I guess they figured since I was seasonal I would just accept anything which I am since I didn't have a paying job at all. But they pay a little over minimum wage.

    Merchandising/Stock Associate (Seasonal) Interview

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Macy's in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online about 2 weeks ago, and few days after I applied I was emailed to schedule my appointment, but unfortunate for me the earliest I could get was about a week and a half later. Anyway I did my research, I personally decided to wear all black( slacks, black button up, and the darkest shade of brown boots).

I arrived about 15min early, greeted everyone in sight and sat down waiting. Fast forward to the actual interview, my interview was quite pleasant. The department manager was very understanding that this would be my very first official job(even though i've done tons of voluntary work over the past several years). He also explained to me there were 3 type of positions involved in this particular department, which were merchandising/stocking(replenishment), processing( loading and unloading trucks), and pricing(price tagging, etc). I made it clear to him I was interested in the merchandising/stocking position, after a few more questions and scenarios, he said he would like to hire me. I start orientation/training next monday, I'll be more than happy to provide that experience as well if this review is received well.

After our conversation, and his series of questions, he offered me the job. He was very considerate into making sure i was interested in the position, and I happily accepted. Also he mentioned that there will be paid training, but minimum wage(in Chicago, thats $8.25), and after training I would be making $8.50 an hour.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Macy's in August 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online. Got emailed about two weeks later to schedule an interview online to come in for an in-person interview. Went in about a week after for the interview. My interview went very smoothly. Read off of the sheet of interview questions then went through what was to be expected of the job. She was very nice. At the end, she asked if I had any concerns or questions and I asked about some questions I had. Then she offered me the job and asked me to fill out the needed paperwork right there and said the background check would take 7-10 days and then I would be called back in to finish the paperwork and then orientation would be later and then I would get started.
