Submitted a well polished resume, focusing on people and sale skills. The interview was easy, just show them that you care of giving great customer interaction and you're being honest with your answers. A critical element in the process was showing excitement. Proving Macy's I will give the company a good image and have what it takes to be a great sales associate.

Applied online received an email 2weeks later asking me to schedule an interview. I scheduled it for the following week, and received a call with a job offer a few days later. The interview was pretty easy, most questions were geared to "how would you handle..." scenarios. I would also suggest dressing for the part meaning as fashion forward as yu can.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Macy's in May 2010.

    Interview Details

I applied online for several jobs including positions such as retail sales in the women's department, commission sales in the fine jewelry department, and manager of the shoe department at Macy's. The next day, the fine jewelry department denied me the job via email. However, the women's department (retail sales associate position) asked me to schedule a 1:1 interview with them. However, the schedule was filled up and so I never had my interview.

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Macy's in August 2011.

Disaster from begininng to end. Training took 2 days instead of 1 because the training room was booked for an all store meeting, and then they had to send me home again because there wasn't an available computer for me. Once the backround check was underway, I called and they said they forgot to initiate it. so it took 18 days instead of 2. The first schedule came out and I was not even on it for 2 weeks. I was not told alot of my shifts would be from 6-9:30 evenings including Friday and Saturday nights in a row. They just cut back shifts again so everyone will be alone when they close and in Fine Jewelry this means a very time consuming counting method which can have descrepincies if another employee logged their sales incorrectly. We also have to load over 2 dozen jewelry trays into 4 safes. Since we should be selling up till 9:00 this allows only a half hour to do what normally takes 1 1/2 hours. This means security is helping us so they can go home.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at Macy's in July 2011.

I was contacted by email and scheduled my own interview. I then met with a floor manager and then a department manager. After clearing the background check and personality test, I was hired. Training is self-administered with computer programs. Employees train themselves and the ability to independently problem solve is a must.
