SAP Basis Administrator Interview (Positive Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 days - interviewed at MassMutual in June 2010.
Interview Details – Even though I was referred to the hiring manager by a mutual acquaintance, I was still asked to log onto the Mass Mutual web site and register myself into their system. Then from this site you have to select what job you are applying for and attach your resume. I just found all this odd. Not hard at all, just odd.
I received a phone call from the HR rep who proceeded to screen me with standard interview questions: Are you currently working. Why are you looking to leave? Explain some of your current responsibilities etc etc. A follow up phone interview was scheduled with the Basis Team manager and their lead Basis Admin. Started off with one on one with the manager. She was very nice. Gave a quick review of their environment and what they were looking for. When the Lead joined the call (also very nice) he proceeded to ask some technical questions. It wasn't a grilling by any means. The tone of the interview was very cordial. Following this 2nd interview, the manager said she would speak to HR to set up a time for me to come visit the office and meet the rest of the team. No offer has been made, and i have yet to hear from HR.
Very Easy Interview
Financial Advisor Interview (Positive Experience; Very Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at MassMutual in January 2010.
Interview Details – Applied online and interviewed for a few minutes with a representative. That same representative asked me to come in to MassMutual's office here locally and talk further. After everything was complete, I was asked to think about the position, look over the material presented, and if I thought it would be a good fit I could continue on with the hiring process.

Financial Advisor Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at MassMutual in December 2009.
Interview Details – Although a decision has yet to be made on their end, it seems they have no problem calling me in to meet new possible colleagues throughout the office. Nothing new arises, I come in, chat it up for an hour and then walk out. They are a very nice young group that I'd love to be a part of. When I first came in they did warn me it was going to be a long, drawn out process.
Interview Question – The dreaded "where do you see yourself in 10 years" question was asked. View Answer
Financial Services Representative Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
The process took 6+ weeks - interviewed at MassMutual in June 2008.
Interview Details – The interview process went pretty much as expected. Everyone was very helpful and always professional. I meet a representative at a Career Fair not knowing if I would be interested in the industry and thought I might as well give it a shot. Ended up being more of a sales job, however it looked like a great company to work for if you intend to be in the financial industry.
Quantitative Analyst Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and interviewed at MassMutual.
Interview Details – Phone interview first then an in-house interview meeting with number of people. They were all very friendly.
Interview Question – None, they all pretty straight forward questions View Answer
Financial Services Representative Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through college or university and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at MassMutual.
Interview Details – Very easy interview process. This is a commission based sales position. All they are interested in is if you have basic math skills and if you are easy enough to be trained to make a sale. They would also want to know that you are very social and have plenty of contacts. The down side is that they dont pay until you get your licences which could be anywhere between 6-26 weeks. You have to pay for the study materials and the fees (about $ 250) and they reimburse you after you become a full time FPA.
Interview Question – Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Answer Question
Insurance Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
The process took 1 week - interviewed at MassMutual in October 2011.
Interview Details – The interviewing process was very good. The people I met were very friendly and helpful. The office was nicely structured, and everyone seemed very professional. The interview lasted thirty minutes, and was very informative. I decided the position was not for me, and did not continue on to the next level. I did not receive an offer.
Interview Question – Describe any sales experience you have. Answer Question
General Accounting Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through a recruiter and the process took 3 days - interviewed at MassMutual in November 2011.
Interview Details – I was contacted by a recruiter for a position at MassMutual in Springfield. The interviews went very well and I was led to believe that an offer would be made. At the last minute, they decided to hire from within and this has been a problem with several clients. It seems that most companies are hiring from within (even if the candidate is less qualified), so that they won't have to pay any recruiters. Don't waste your time.
Account Manager Interview (Neutral Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at MassMutual in October 2011.
Interview Details – Had a phone interview. Questons they asked were why sales and why mass mutual. They also ask you to rank yourself from 1-10 in competitiveness. Seems like they use the same questions for all the interviews because allthe questions they asked, I've already seen on glassdoor. I think not having sales experience probably hurt me the most
Interview Question – Why sales? Answer Question
Actuarial Analyst Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at MassMutual in July 2011.
Interview Details – I needed to fill in a set of attitude questions, and also translate 2 paragraphs, one from chinese to english and the other one is from english to chinese
then , they asked me to introduce myself, and ask some detail about my extra curricular activities.
Also, they have asked why did I choose maths in the university and why do I want to be an actuary.
Interview Question – As you join so many extra curricular activities, what is the most memorable thing? Answer Question
