    Application

I applied online. The process took 7+ weeksinterviewed at McGladrey LLP (Dubuque, IA) in July 2013.

    Interview

Contacted by recruitement specialist in Minnesota, who did a screening phone interview ("Walk me through your work history," "Tell me about this gap in your resume," "You started out in X field and now you're looking for Y; why is that?") and then set up an in-person interview.

In-person interview with hiring/training manager out of Cedar Rapids. Very in-depth, about an hour and fifteen minutes, with lots of behavioral questions: Tell me about a time when you worked with a difficult customer? with a difficult co-worker? Tell me about a task you've done that involved getting information from a variety of people in a variety of locations? ... and some of the information was wrong?

She told me there'd be computer-skills testing later in the process.

Then there was a long gap with occasional contact from the recruiting specialist; they were doing other interviews and waiting for the principal to get back from traveling.

Later contacted by same recruiting specialist to set up an interview with two of the actual supervisors for the position. This seemed perfunctory, as if the decision had already been made, and never really rose above the "Tell me about yourself" question. At this point, I suspect they had already chosen another candidate.

The same recruiting specialist called to tell me they'd chosen someone else.

The entire process from start to finish took almost two months.

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at McGladrey LLP (Detroit, MI) in June 2013.

    Interview

It was a two phase interview process. The people were really great, didn't try to intimidate you. They really just want to know if you are a good fit for the firm. One on one with associates and partners mixed.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at McGladrey LLP in April 2013.

    Interview

Email from recruiter to set up and confirm phone interview. She called me 15 minutes late, which cost half of the time she had allotted. She was clearly going down a list of pre-arranged questions, with no interest in my answers. Her response to everything I said was "good." She asked me the same question twice in a five minute span, evidently forgetting she had already asked me the question.

    Interview Questions

    • None really, all pretty standard. The question she asked me twice was "what accomplishment was I the most proud of"   Answer Question

Very few behavioral and no technical questions at all. Basically conversational on getting to know how you speak and present yourself. They judge your technical skills entirely from your resume and education.

    Interview

Got through university recruiting. Interviewed on campus with the HR director. Interview was very conversational and relaxed. They basically just went over the things on my resume and had me expand on them with a lot of time at the end for questions I had. They said I should hear back in several weeks.

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at McGladrey LLP (Boston, MA) in February 2013.

    Interview

Applied on campus and received an invitation for an interview after a few weeks. The recruiter was VERY social and nice. She started off asking me about myself and from there we talked about my likes, why I picked accounting, why I picked the school I did, etc. Then we talked about the company more and what kinds of social things they do. It seems like a great company from what she told me. It seemed very much like a conversation and she didn't ask weird behavioral questions like weaknesses or any of those "name a time when....." questions.

I applied through college or university – interviewed at McGladrey LLP.

    Interview

First round on-campus. Second round pre-interview dinner and then 4 1/2 hours at the office the next day, which included a company presentation, 3 one-on-one interviews with managers and directors, and lunch with staff at the end. Everyone there was friendly. However, not sure how they picked the people who got offers in the end. Perhaps based on a better cultural fit or a higher degree (MST?)

    Interview Questions

    • No unexpected questions. The interviews were very conversational and laid-back. Mostly wanted to get to know you. Will definitely ask why McGladrey and why tax.   Answer Question
