I applied online - interviewed at Medtronic.

    Interview Details

Went through a pre-screening interview with HR and then an interview with a manager and then an executive. The first two parts were relatively normal and uneventful. However, the executive was a terrible experience and turned me off from the company.

Interview with the executive was a terrible experience. She was scattered, unfocused and would not answer my questions. In addition, she was complaining about work she had to do on some unrelated project. That interview experience turned me off from Medtronic completely, especially since she is an executive that is supposed to lead.

You are hired as a contractor first. It realistically takes between a year and a year and a half to be converted to full time. Initial interview is a phone interview, then you are brought in for an in person interview. It took about a week and a half from start to finish. However, this is because the department was being built up. It may take longer now.

Applied through the company website but was contacted by a recruiter. About a thirty minute phone interview with hiring manager. Then flew out for face-to-face with hiring manager and a few regulatory directors and managers. It took about a day and went to lunch with people on the team. Received an offer a few days later.

    I applied in-person - interviewed at Medtronic.

    Interview Details

My interview was with the department manager and two others who I would be working with daily. They asked the usual questions. What I found unique was that I was allowed to ask as many questions as I liked, directly to those two people who would be my co-workers. Not sure if they were being truthful, but it was cool to be able to talk to them.

    Technical Supervisor Interview

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Medtronic in July 2014.

    Interview Details

Applied via the Medtronic career section. It was about 2 weeks before I got a email from a recruiter. We scheduled a phone interview a few days later. The questions were behavioral type questions as well as questions regarding my past employment history, lasted about 45 min. The S.T.A.R method is a good thing to know and use during all interviews. After the initial phone interview with the recruiter, the following week had another phone interview with a senior manager, this interview was shorter, more to the point. Again behavioral questions answered using the star method.
A week or so later I was invited to interview onsite. I was flown over to the facility, given a rental car and a hotel. I had 4 sets of interviews each lasting about 30-45 min each with 2 interviewers per interview. Many behavioral questions, delved much more into past employment history and outside activities. All in all a long day but they interviews were not too hard, just stick to the star method.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Medtronic.

    Interview Details

The whole process took about a month from the time I applied online. I was contacted by a recruiter and then had a phone interview with the office manager the next day. I then had a face-to-face interview with 4 separate people two days later. Research STAR interviewing to learn how they interview. It went really well and was offered the position the next week.

    Application Details

I applied online - interviewed at Medtronic.

    Interview Details

I submitted my resume for a position and was contacted the next day by a recruiter. The recruiter didn't know all of the information about the position, and in fact gave me incorrect information.

A couple weeks later I did a phone interview with the hiring manager.

A couple weeks later I did an in person interview with 4 people, including the hiring manager. They use the STAR (situation, task, activity, result) approach to interviewing. They assign each interviewer a section to focus on like "leadership", and they ask you to "explain a time when...", then you need to give the action that you did, and describe the results. If you want to be sure you do well at this, make sure you google the STAR approach ahead of time to understand what they are looking for.

I was offered the position without any signing bonus, without any additional weeks of vacation (3 weeks to start).

    Senior Marketing Communication Specialist Interview

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 1 week - interviewed at Medtronic.

    Interview Details

I had an initial phone interview with the HR Hiring Manager for screening purposes. Following phone interview, I had an in-person interview. Depending on the business unit, plan on meeting with several key individuals. My interview was about 6 hours long. I met with 5 individuals and had lunch with the prospective team I would support. Keep in mind, Medtronic is used to working with the top physicians in their respective fields and professionalism is key. Dress appropriately, bring samples of your work if you have them and don't be afraid to take a second to gather your thoughts before answering a question. If you are not local to the campus, be prepared for the option of a phone and/or live video interview(s) and know how to put your best self forward in this case.
