I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Morgan Stanley in May 2009.

Interview Details – 6 interviews in person and 2 over the phone. Some interviews cover general intelligence, some are specific to technology. One interview is more of a conversation, than interview.

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Morgan Stanley in September 2010.

Interview Details – MS recruiter called me and setup a phone screening (30 mins). After a day, the recruiter informed me for 3 phone interviews with 3 people from the department (30 mins each). The interviewers were very pleasant and friendly. They made sure that I was comfortable, ensured that I understood the role correctly. Some of the interviewers were highly technical and some were more big picture personnel. After a week, they asked me to come in for a in-person interview where I met with another 3 people over couple of hours. Overall, I felt pretty good about the interview process and liked my chances. After a couple of days the HR called to say that the job is mine.

Interview Question – Why should we hire you?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Very little negotiation in this market.

I applied through a staffing agency and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Morgan Stanley in February 2010.

Interview Details – There was a phone screen for an hour by 1 person. It was moderately difficult.

This was followed 1 week later by 1:1 with 5 folks (each 45 min to an hour) in increasing order of seniority.
3 of the interviews were difficult with detailed probing questions and follow-ups. It was fun and a good experience. All had tech (basic and difficult) and business questions.

Interview Question – Gave a real business scenario that they are facing now.   View Answer
