    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

    Interview

The interview went very smooth and easy. I think the best thing for me was I had a real connection with the team that interviewed me. No technical questions just interviewing to check for a cultural fit. Had a great experience during the interview and I would recommend the experience to anybody who is at all interested.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (New York, NY).

    Interview

Interviewed for high school internship. Was pretty straight forward. Nothing too fancy. An overview of my resume and some basic math skills questionnaire. Arrived early with another candidate. Was complemented on my resume, which didn’t really please the other guy, so bonus points for me. Interview lasted all of 30 minutes.

Talked with SVP. All fit questions and nothing technical. The job itself was most secretary work but I was able to see what went on inside a wealth management office.

I applied through other source. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.

    Interview

Interviewed with team of Advisors first. Separate interviews, not two on one. Was impressed by their story of how they ran their practice like a well-oiled machine. Wish it had been true. Then met Office Manager Senior VP for interview that covered all the basics. Then met regional manager briefly for a glossy overview of why it was the best place to work, according to him.

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a weekinterviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (Atlanta, GA) in March 2014.

    Interview

2 rounds of interviews, first one on phone, second one on site; first one basically all behavioral, standard strength/weakness question. Second round on site, two analysts, two Senior VP; junior person asks more technical ones; senior VP focus on situation-behavioral (i.e. if your manager asks you to submit a report about a subject that you are no familiar with, what would you do to meet the tight deadline?); Technical questions are mostly market related (what's S&P today and what does it suggest? How do you think about the current monetary policy? What is the most popular sector in the market right now?)

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

I accepted the offer immediately; basically no negotiation

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ weeksinterviewed at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney (Boston, MA).

    Interview

I was first referred to a contact at the company and sent my resume/cover letter directly to him via email. A few days later, my contact's assistant called me to schedule an in-person interview. The interview took place primarily with one Financial Advisor, while another briefly stepped in to explain unique aspects of the role. The interview went well and the interviewer was very responsive to my questions.

    Negotiation

I did research before I went in on what others in my role were being paid, on average. I was asked during the interview what I was looking for in terms of pay, and I gave a number. The interviewer agreed that the amount was about average and fair.
