I applied through college or university and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Nokia Solutions and Networks.

Interview Details – questions were of medium standard inwritten rounds ,but required bit of calculation speed. there weren't group dicussions, and written tests were followed by technical interview. technical questions were mainly from c programming and were not too tough but required clarity of concepts. then some questions were based on resume and two questions came from communication domain, like frequency of transmission kinda questions.

Systems Engineer Interview

Systems Engineer

I applied online and the process took 2+ months - interviewed at Nokia Solutions and Networks in January 2013.

Interview Details – First call with simple talk about availability and salary expectations (no range specified by employer).

Second teleconference interview with questions related to:
-software development process
-white/black box testing
-network protocols
-quality assurance
-OSI Layers

Despite the fact I've applied for System Engineer position, at the beginning of interview they told me it is Software Integration / Verification interview.
I've had impression that employer is looking to hire person with exact employer specific knowledge and/or exact book definitions are needed. However, none of this was listed as experience needed in the job post.

Senior Software Engineer Interview

Senior Software Engineer
Wrocław (Poland)

I applied online and the process took 7 weeks - interviewed at Nokia Solutions and Networks in September 2012.

Interview Details – No HR interview with typical questions, only an interview with four developers. This position was mainly about software design in C++, but there were no questions on software design. The interviewers seemed to be in hurry. Many questions unrelated to the position. They expect dictionary definitions as the answers.

Time and money wasting for experienced looking for a better paid job. It takes them extremely long time to make and inform their final decision, you have to ask them for that from time to time. Rude interviewers. Unprofessional and _no_reimbursement_.

Interview Questions

  • Testing techniques (black-box, white-box, regression, unit testing - they expect the answer from the book, not from your experience and the real-world programming), testing strategies (not assertions, mocking and so on... but answer as it is defined in one of the books they have probably read before).   Answer Question
  • Implement an algorithm to find balance point of the array. Proposed one, with average complexity of O(N-1) but it seems they were looking for another one solution (which I have found on Stackoverflow later).   Answer Question
  • What's wrong with this code (they were looking for "exact answer from the book" not what you can observe in the particular code example).   Answer Question
  • What is polymorphism (in-deep question (vtables, vptrs implementation details) with example on whiteboard, marking as virtual in base and not-marking as virtual in derived - what would happen)?   Answer Question
  • What comes along with copy-constructor? (Silly question, correct answer is assignment operator). Plus standard questions on memory leaks, mutex and semaphore, difference between stack and heap, overloading of operator new, etc. No questions on "advanced" C++ features like templates.   Answer Question

Software Integration Engineer & Hardware Integration Engineer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Wrocław (Poland)

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Nokia Solutions and Networks in June 2010.

Interview Details – First of all, at the beginning of the interview I was informed that my application will be considered for two positions (Software Integration Engineer & Hardware Integration Engineer) and I was not informed about it earlier during hiring process (my application was only for one of those). Interview consisted of several technical parts. Those technical parts consisted of e.g.: programming questions and problems (C), embedded systems and processor operation issues, Linux systems knowledge, electronic hardware design & analysis questions, general telecommunication systems questions, measurement equipment knowledge (eg. questions about spectrum analiser). I've got impression that some of those questions checked only candidate's theoretical knowledge and were not designed to check candidates analytic skills (except some design and analysis questions).
My overall impression is that I should not be even invited to the interview, as my resume clearly showed that I will be recent graduate in 3 months and my experience and skills are not suitable for this position (I've applied not knowing fully what are critical requirements for this position).

Interview Questions

  • What kind of communication interfaces are build in standard spectrum analyzer?   View Answer
  • What kind of cable would you connect RF to the spectrum analyzer?   View Answer
