I applied online and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Nordstrom in June 2014.

Interview Question – Often times a person needs to be a motivator in a negative environment. Tell me about a time you proved to be a positive motivator in a negative situationan.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The amount of work compared to the pay did not seem reasonable

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Nordstrom in April 2014.

Interview Details – Interviewed by multiple managers for nearly an hour. Asked pretty typical interview questions, nothing too confusing. Review other common interview questions for preparation. When I interviewed, Nordstrom brought in quite a large group of individuals whom took turns switching from table to table of managers for mini interviews.

Interview Question – Why Nordstrom?
Sell me this... (and then they proceeded to hand me a random item)
  Answer Question

Negotiation Details – None, you get paid min wage + commission.

I applied online and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Nordstrom.

Interview Details – Applied online and was contacted by HR about 3 days later. HR called me and it was sort of a mini-interview, just asking what my availability was like and why I want to work for Nordstrom. When you pass that, they'll ask you to come in for a 1:1 interview. I was interviewed by another person in HR. The interview was about half an hour: she just told me more about the position I was applying for and then asked the usual questions like what my availability was like for the month, describe a time you worked on a team, describe a difficult situation and how you overcame it, and what is necessary for a team to work well. I was contacted the next Monday and was offered the position!

Interview Question – When was a time you went above and beyond for a customer?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – No negotiation, my pay was set at $10.50.

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Nordstrom.

Interview Details – After applying online, I got an email that evening asking for a phone interview. The phone interview was pretty easy, basically "Why do you want to work at nordstrom" and "Do you have availability on nights and weekends?", then they asked to set up an in person interview. For that, I was asked fairly generic questions, Name a time you have been successful at work, what would you do if you were not meeting sales goals, name a challenge you've had a work and how you did. They told me I would hear in 72 hours, but I hadn't heard anything at the point. On a whim, I checked my Junk email folder, and there was an email requesting more information, basically some specifics about my past employers, and references.

Interview Question – The interviewer had me do a sales exercise, and while it wasn't terribly difficult, I'd never done sales before. He was playing "picky" so I had to kinda quickly look around for what else might better suit his needs, something that would be much easier once you are familiar with the merchandise.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I was told my "calculated" wage would be $12.60, and that I could talk to HR if I had an issues, which I did not.

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Nordstrom.

Interview Details – Applied online - uploaded my resume, references, and other stuff. I got an email back the next day or two telling me to set up a phone interview online. I scheduled it, and waited for the day I'd get the call. On the day of the scheduled phone interview, the manager? interviewer? called about two hours late, so just make sure you're open two hours before and after your original time slot. The questions were pretty simple - Why Nordstrom? Give an example of good customer service? - and after that, the interviewer forwarded my information to the manager of the department I was applying to. She then set up a face to face interview, which was also pretty casual. It was one-on-one, and short (15 minutes max).

Interview Question – Selling scenario - pick an outfit for a specific occasion and sell it to the department manager. Because it was so spontaneous, it was somewhat difficult, but just stay calm and it should be good.   Answer Question

Seasonal Rotating Sales and Support Interview

Seasonal Rotating Sales and Support

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Nordstrom in July 2014.

Interview Details – My Nordstrom job search actually began with a Nordstrom Rack phone interview. Upon learning that I would leave for college in less than two months, the interviewer told me that the Rack was looking for people who could stay longer, but that if I was looking for a seasonal job, I should apply to Nordstrom. So as soon as I finished speaking with him, I submitted an online application to Nordstrom.

It took just a few days for them to contact me by phone to schedule an in-person interview. I came in that afternoon, and was cheerfully greeted then escorted to HR. The interview was short, about 15 minutes, and felt like a friendly conversation. The questions were the classics, and expected: Why Nordstrom? Tell me about your work experience. Tell me about going above and beyond. Tell me about working in a team. Tell me about a challenge you faced.

I was happy with the way the interview went and just a day later, HR called, but I missed it. I reached them the next day and they told me I was hired. Overall, it was a pretty seamless experience--HR is so personable and the rest of the employees seem so kind as well. I look forward to beginning my job!

Interview Question – None were too difficult. See middle paragraph for specific questions.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – They told me my salary was $10.50/hour and asked if that was all right. I happily accepted since this is my first real job.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Nordstrom in November 2013.

Interview Details – Very laid back, easy going and friendly. Arrived to Customer Experience and waited to be escorted to the back of Nordstrom. The manager arrived not long afterwards and led me back to a small room with a table and two chairs and we sat down and she asked me various questions about my experience.

Interview Question – Tell me about a time when you helped a disgruntled customer, how did you turn it around?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – It was very relaxed and easy.
