Interview Details – This highly depends on the PI and the lab environment. Northwestern is a highly ranked university so it is important to have a good publication record and established set of lab skills before approaching faculty. Every PI has a different method in interviews and hiring, usually involving an individual meeting with the applicant and a research presentation of the applicant's past findings with current group members.

I applied through college or university and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Northwestern University in October 2010.

Interview Details – A research proposal, and colloquia on site. During on site visit I was usually asked to explain the research I was doing and planning to do in future. Overall, pleasant experience

Interview Question – I haven't had difficult or unexpected questions in general. Overall, I was only asked to tell about research and what I plan to do at the NU.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Relocation fees. The salary was set in stone and was known during the application process. Benefits were included in the package.
