    Logistics Associate Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Office Depot (Vancouver, WA).

    Interview

I applied online and was called in by the store manager about a week later to set up an interview. I went in the next week and met with the store manager. He was really nice and down to earth about the job description and gave a basic overview of a typical work day and working conditions, and then asked if I was still interested in moving forward. After a typical retail-oriented question and answer session, where I was given a chance to ask my own questions, I was directed to a computer terminal to complete an assessment. After I finished, I was dismissed. The whole process took about 25 minutes.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at Office Depot in July 2015.

    Interview

Applied online and was called to set up an interview the next two weeks after applying. I went to location of store, and asked to speak to the person who was interviewing. She was on break so was interviewed by another associate. Not sure what title he had as he never introduced himself. No questions were asked and just told to fill out a paper form for a background check. Not sure what job will be offered as they told me they were hiring for multiple positions. Not one employee was smiling which i found strange. Could not tell the associates apart from the managers so I also found that odd as everyone had the same shirt and nametag.

    Interview

I received a call for an interview so long after applying for it online that I forgot when exactly I applied. I was asked my availability and then scheduled for the interview later in the week. I was interviewed by an assistant manager, who was probably barely older than me (I'm 20). After asking a couple of questions- one about my current job and then one of those "where do you see yourself in so many years" questions before stopping and telling me that my schedule wouldn't work with this specific position. I had reminded him of my availability, but it was exactly what I told him over the phone. However, I was asked if I would be interested in another position, though it was a lead cashier position or something. I obviously wasn't a fit candidate for that position seeing as I had no previous customer service experience or anything. But I didn't want it to get awkward so I just sort of blurted out that it's something I might consider. He then told me that I would probably get called up for another interview for that other position after he ran it by the manager, who I'm assuming was a lady I witnessed being rude to an older customer who wasn't tech-savy in the slightest. I wouldn't have gone in for an interview for that other position even if I were called up for it, but unsurprisingly, I never heard back from them. In my current job search this was by far my worst experience seeing as the whole thing was a complete waste of time that could have been avoided. With a rude manager and incompetent assistant manager, however, I can't be too disappointed that I'm not working there.

    Interview

Applied a few weeks ago and got a call for an interview. Honestly the interview was a waste of time and slightly unprofessional. The interviewer was spending time saying how the current workers were incompetent and that if hired we probably wouldn't even see most of them because they might be laid off. I was the only person who didn't have any retail experience and I could tell that's what he was only looking for, the interview questions didn't even matter. I felt that I answered them pretty well compared to the other candidates, they didn't even make sense on most of the questions they answered. Next time they should take the time to see whether or not the people they choose have retail experience rather than wasting their time by calling them for an interview because they assume they have experience.

    Claims Manager Interview

    Anonymous Employee

    Positive Experience

    Interview

I only got to my initial phone interview and decided that based on several factors, this company was NOT for me. The corporate recruiter failed to call me as scheduled a few times. When on the phone, she started going thru my work experience, but it was quickly evident that she didn't understand the terminology she was using and didn't understand the position. She then reads off a paper to give me very general information about the position, but doesn't ask if I have any questions. She makes assumptions about my work experience because she doesn't understand the position she's recruiting and the call ends. I found it to be a poor experience overall. No respect for my time when setting up a phone interview and not calling (several times) and I got the sense that she thought I was desperate for a job or something. I rescinded my application about 30 minutes after getting off the phone.

    Software Developer Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at Office Depot (Boca Raton, FL) in November 2014.

    Interview

Applied through recruiter. 4 (!) phone screenings, some of them pretty technical, mostly relevant. Fifth interview was face to face in the office. Three rounds with different groups of people: developers, hiring manager, somebody in architecture. Moderately technical questions, often i was ask to tell about my experience with this or that, well, you can tell your story. My impression: exhausting, pretty awkward, either interviewers were shy to ask technical questions or didn't know what to ask. At the end, they came to understanding that i didn't have Oracle products stack in my resume - i found it ridiculous to go through 5 rounds of back and forth to find out the obvious.

    Sales Associate Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took a weekinterviewed at Office Depot (Redlands, CA).

    Interview

I went into the store and asked for an application. They let me use a computer to fill it out in the store. Unlike most places the employees were happy to see another person applying. I got a call about a week later and they asked me to come back to the store for an interview. The interviewer was the manager but he wasn't the one in-charge of hiring. The second interview is when you speak to the person in charge of hiring. He was pretty cool guy. We blew through the questions and chatted a little bit. He was honest with me and told me he was happy with everything but the hiring manager was unlikely to take me because I had zero experience in selling. Which I saw coming. After that we talked about sushi and I asked him for advice on some other things like interviewing do's and don'ts. He really opened my eyes to somethings. Didn't get the job but it was a positive experience.

    Retail Associate Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied in-person – interviewed at Office Depot (Fayetteville, GA) in October 2014.

    Interview

Me and the manager kept in touch for weeks until the interview. However, on the day of the interview, he neglected to tell me that he went out of town and he never told anyone that I was coming in. Because of that, the employee who ended up interviewing me didn't have my information like my resume and application and it was a waste of time. After that, I kept calling the manager back to reschedule but I was always put on hold or I was hung up on. Overall, it was a very negative experience.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Office Depot (Mesquite, TX) in September 2014.

    Interview

Assistant interviewed me and told me I was recommended for second interview. Never received the second interview at all. The manager just changed her mind. Misleading me and I was very qualified for the position. Also they seemed eager to have you there but that was not true either, because they never gave me a chance at what I know I could do.
