I applied in-person. The process took a weekinterviewed at Office Depot.

    Interview Details

I went into the store and asked for an application. They let me use a computer to fill it out in the store. Unlike most places the employees were happy to see another person applying. I got a call about a week later and they asked me to come back to the store for an interview.

The interviewer was the manager but he wasn't the one in-charge of hiring. The second interview is when you speak to the person in charge of hiring. He was pretty cool guy. We blew through the questions and chatted a little bit. He was honest with me and told me he was happy with everything but the hiring manager was unlikely to take me because I had zero experience in selling. Which I saw coming. After that we talked about sushi and I asked him for advice on some other things like interviewing do's and don'ts. He really opened my eyes to somethings. Didn't get the job but it was a positive experience.

Assistant interviewed me and told me I was recommended for second interview. Never received the second interview at all. The manager just changed her mind. Misleading me and I was very qualified for the position. Also they seemed eager to have you there but that was not true either, because they never gave me a chance at what I know I could do.

    Lead Consultant, Retail Training Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Boca Raton, FL
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Office Depot in August 2014.

    Interview Details

Initial telephone interview with HR; second telephone interview with Sr. HR; two on-site interviews with members of the team. I was asked if I was open to completing an online video test to provide an example of my facilitation skills. It was not required since I was able to have the on-site interviews.

    Interview Questions
    • Fairly standard questions; one of the most difficult/uncomfortable questions was when they asked about how I would respond to someone (executive level) that does not believe the training is necessary. It turned into a role-playing situation and the interviewer was determined to play devil's advocate to every answer I provided. With limited information of their process and procedures it was a no-win regardless of my answers or suggestions.   View Answer

I dropped off my completed application to the man running the cash register(the store manager). He was friendly and enthusiastic. I was asked to fill out a questionaire right then. I was called in for an interview a week or two later. After three short interviews I was sent for a drug test and was hired shortly there after.

I applied online. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Office Depot in June 2014.

    Interview Details

I applied online and almost immediately was called in for an interview the following day. The hiring manager told me that he had scheduled me in for the afternoon at three, without any notice. I made it to the site 10 minutes early and had to wait 30 mins for the hiring manager to see me. While I was waiting the people there were friendly, albeit unenthusiastic. It appears as the people who work there don't enjoy it as much. We went into his office and he asked me three simple questions. I asked him several. Anyways I left him my resume and that was that. I didn't hear from them again but that's fine they were only offering 10.00 an hour and I just got hired at a base of 13.00 an hour plus salary.

was not expecting to get hired but now i am in I am actually sad. Paid is so important to me because that is what us workers need. The interview is easy to get in but don't let them fool you. They will not agree to what they said and paid you as less as possible. It is just barely to minimum

Saw a sign saying they were hiring while I was shopping there. TT an associate who said I could list him as a referral source & if I got hired he'd get a whopping $100 referral bonus! Should've been an indicator right there. From there assessment, f2f w/ store mgr from location applied at, f2f w/ different store mgr for another perspective, phone int w/ district manager & then oh' wait we filled that position, but we're looking for another Assistant Store Mgr at Office Max location cuz we just merged w/ them. Another f2f with that store mgr & then received vm saying I was better suited for a sales spec position that starts at $11/hour or $22k/yr. They put me through the ringer for a position that starts at $15.20/hour?!?!

I applied online – interviewed at Office Depot in November 2013.

    Interview Details

Applied for position online. Went through automated assessment which includes a few vague situational questions that left me unsure of what they were looking for. Received a call a couple weeks later from HR. The woman was screening for applicants that she felt were qualified to move on to a live interview. I was asked to come in after she confirmed that my profile fit the position. (To be honest, she seemed to be a bit of an 'air head'). Next interview was with someone from HR. Meeting was brief. Then met with an assistant general manager. He was well-rehearsed with canned questions regarding "what would you do if...?" and "when you made a mistake how did you fix it?" He didn't appear to be listening to my answers. In fact, most of the time I had to sit and listen to him brag about how successful he was and, basically, 'this place couldn't run without me' kind of attitude. I thought, "if this is the person I'm going to be reporting to, maybe I should just keep looking." The ego was too much. It's been a few weeks and I haven't heard back. And, in reality, I hope I don't.

    Interview Questions
    • If you review the basic behavioral questions that most companies ask and have an experience to share you will be way ahead of the person that interviewed me. But be prepared to listen to a lot of egotistical bragging. It's unreal.   Answer Question
