Account Executive Interview

Account Executive
San Francisco, CA

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Oracle in February 2010.

Interview Details – A series of on-site interviews with hiring managers. The internal recruiters are on top of their game bringing in top candidates as Oracle is constantly hiring. It's important to develop relationships with these recruiters as much as with the hiring managers. One hiring manager was about to leave for another company, delaying the process, but the hiring manager put things back on track. My offer was communicated as a voicemail a week after my last interview.

Interview Question – Tell us about our sales organization.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Oracles negotiation is internal, abstracted away from the candidate.

Very Easy Interview

Associate Internet Sales Consultant Interview

Associate Internet Sales Consultant
Redwood City, CA

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Oracle in February 2014.

Interview Details – I received an email through my university department that Oracle was looking for hires, so I forwarded my resume. I had a phone interview with the recruiter, who was very negative about my demeanor and told me that I would have to improve when talking to the hiring managed. Briefly introduced myself to the recruiter at the career fair the following week. After the career fair, they invited everyone who had spoke to them to pizza that night. Following this, I received an invite for a phone interview with the hiring manager, which I did the following week. The phone interview lasted about 20 minutes. The manager seemed completely uninterested in my background and really just wanted to make sure that I knew what I was getting myself into. I got a call later that evening telling me I had got the job. Overall, the whole experience lasted less than 2 weeks.

Interview Question – Nothing was difficult, it was all straightforward situation/behavior questions.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Because I could tell from the entire recruitment process that they were not interested in my background or skills, they just wanted warm bodies to fill this position. It seemed WAY too easy to get this job, and thus it appeared that it was a undesirable position. I know several other people who took this job coming out of college, and are now actively looking for other jobs because they didn't like this one.

Oracle Software Engineering Intern Interview

Oracle Software Engineering Intern
Redwood City, CA

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Oracle in March 2013.

Interview Details – Process took 2-3 weeks. Applied in March/April 2013. Applied online, and heard back from a recruiter within a week. She was very friendly throughout. She scheduled interviews with three different teams on different days. After the last one, heard back about an offer within a day. The entire process proceeded smoothly, and my recruiter replied promptly. The earlier you apply, the higher chance that they will be able to find teams that match your interests.

Interview Question – Describe the types of algorithms you've worked with. This was followed up by specific questions about a particular algorithm I mentioned.   Answer Question

Senior Programmer Analyst Interview

Senior Programmer Analyst
Redwood City, CA

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Oracle in October 2013.

Interview Details – Typical process. One round with Recruiter, One round with hiring manager and an on-site interview with 4-5 peer of the hiring manager. The process was quick. Scheduling was done quick . Location was easy to get to. The team was quick to respond. Be prepare to just listen and not ask any question. Some questions were totally irrelevant .

Interview Question – There was no difficult question. Most of the managers did not seem very motivated. They switched over from consulting and are happy with steady check.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – Offer was 10k less than original offer. They like to play dodge ball. I accepted the original offer and they came back and said sorry we didnt realize we could not pay you that much. We have to drop it by 10k. Seems like bait and switch. I declined because I found that process very unethical.

Senior Project Manager Interview

Senior Project Manager
Redwood City, CA

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Oracle in January 2013.

Interview Details – I was referred by another Oracle employee. I had two phone interviews, one with a Senior Director and one with a VP. The Senior Director's questions related to what I had experience with and how large each project was. Very personable and comfortable. The VP asked situational questions and wanted to understand the way I analyze and approach situations. I gave honest, pragmatic answers.

Interview Question – Why did you work at three different companies in the past 5 years?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – Initially I was promised a higher salary, then executive management cut it by 10K, claiming 'I could grow into the position'. This past year, there were no (official) raises, so zero "growing into' dollars for me. I decided to accept the job based on being virtual and my immediate management.
