EARLY MORNING STOCKER/PET PRODUCTS ASSOCIATE

I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at PetSmart in July 2011.

Interview Details – Applied online and within a week, I got a call for an interview. Met with the assistant manager and the interview was really laid back. I was asked questions toward my experience and why did I want to work there.

Interview Question – No difficult questions.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – We did not negotiate with my pay, when I applied online, I had put what I wanted and we closed it.

Pet Products Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at PetSmart.

Interview Details – Applied online. Two days later, I was called for an in person interview. It was your pretty typical hiring process. They asked very typical questions. Why PetSmart? What type of pets do you like? Where do you see your self in 5 years. What type of experience. They ran a couple of scenarios our on the floor. Asked if I could pick up 50lbs. I was offered job the next day.

Interview Question – At the time, I had to sell a specific item that was randomly picked up from the sales floor. They give you a about a minute to look over the product.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – They offered above minimum wage, so no need to negotiate.

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at PetSmart.

Interview Details – Applied online and got a call back from the operations manager about two weeks later, went in that Friday and met with both the operations manger and store manager. Was a very easy interview (if that) both managers and I hit it off very good considering we share a love for animals. Was about 45 minutes in total including a couple scenario questions, work experience, and mainly just talking about our pets. I was offered the position on the spot and went in the same day for my drug test. If you sincerely love animals, you have nothing to worry about. If you're just there for a paycheck then look somewhere else.

Interview Question – "how would you assist a customer that comes in with a rowdy puppy that is tearing up their shoes?"
"how would you assist a customer that comes in determined to buy a muzzel for their dog that won't stop barking?"

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at PetSmart in September 2013.

Interview Details – The application process is tedious. Those ridiculous surveys asking you the same question repeatedly, determining how consistent you are. If you haven't completed your high school education, don't apply. If you have a atypical name, don't apply. If you have a criminal background, don't apply. They won't even print your application. The interview depends on what you look like and how you come across. I've been involved in hiring decisions. Trust me- that's how it works. If you are professionally dressed, polite, and energetic, you will be hired. If you can't/won't/don't do all of these, don't bother applying.

Interview Question – The questions are basic. The interview consists mostly of role playing that is as much of a farce for the manager interviewing you as the applicant.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – What negotiation? It's retail. You get paid what they offer for less than 28 hours a week, or you don't work.

Lubbock, TX

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at PetSmart.

Interview Details – You will be offered an interview based on the available openings and then based on how you score on your personality test. Only green flagged personality tests will get an interview. Usually that interview is the department manager then your second interview if you make it that far will be the store manager followed by a drug test and background check and then possibly an offer of employment.

Interview Question – none. very generic like every other retail interview you have had   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There is a set Pay Band for each job based on experience and it varies by store. You will be offered lower than the pay band and get minimal raises yearly .50 Max based on review which will never be in your favor because your manager will tell you that they cant rate you a 5/5 on any area because no one is ever perfect.

Pet Care Associate Interview

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at PetSmart in May 2014.

Interview Details – I applied online for two different stores, each within 5 miles of each other. Within a week, I was called in for an interview with the operations manager. The interview was casual yet professional. Best to go dressed with a nice collard shirt and khakis. The process took about 15 mins. After the interview, I was told I would be scheduled for another interview. The second interview was with the petcare manager, who would turn out to be my manager. She took me around the store, asked me a few questions, and that was about it. She said she would give me a call within a few days. She called 2 days after to introduce me to the head store manager. It was a 5 minute interview at most, and he gave me the strip to get drug tested, and we went from there. In all, it was a very easy interview. Just act confident but don't over inflate your ego.

Interview Question – No difficult questions, some might ask you to sell them a certain pet or item. All depends on the manager.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I didn't negotiate. I was just happy to be able to get the job.
