Pet Care Specialist-Petshotel Interview

Anonymous Employee in Phoenix, AZ
No Offer
Negative Experience
Easy Interview

Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at PetSmart (Phoenix, AZ) in July 2015.

Interview

It wasn't much of an interview. The assistant manager called in a few people and just told us how the hotel works and then said she'd call us soon and I still haven't heard back. She seemed a bit unprofessional and cursed during the interview which I believe was just not the place to do that. There are certain times you just don't do that. She also talked a lot about crushing the competition and didn't ask us any questions really. If I get an offer I don't plan to take it.

I applied online. The process took 1+ weekinterviewed at PetSmart (Las Vegas, NV) in April 2015.

    Interview

Got a call for a interview first and was asked if I was sure this is what I wanted to do? I basically was downgrading from my previous career and the store manager wanted to make sure this is what I wanted to do on the phone before I did the interview. I said yes,

    Interview Questions

    • I was not asked ONE interview question. Shot the breeze the whole hour about my previous job and how much I made doing that, etc. I felt as though I wasn't getting the job and was being talked out of applying for that position from the beginning of the interview.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at PetSmart (Houston, TX) in September 2014.

    Interview

I was called in for an initial interview with the Hotel Manager and Hotel Assistant Manager. The Hotel Manager asked me standard interview questions while the Hotel Assistant Manager took notes. The interview took place in their office and was fairly casual, more like having a conversation. I was called back for a second interview with the store manager. The second interview was very conversational. I believe he was just feeling me out and getting to know me before he approved hiring me. At the end of the second interview he informed me that I got the job.

    Interview Questions

    • What is your experience with dogs? What would you do if a dog fight broke out? Are there any breeds/sizes of dogs you're uncomfortable with? Also, because I was switching from a full-time career in mortgage, to work part-time at the PetHotel, I got several questions regarding my reasoning. They just wanted to make sure I wasn't taking the job only to quit 3 weeks later if I found a full-time job in mortgage.   1 Answer

    Interview

Interview process was quick, easy and painless. Typical interview questions and the interviewer made sure you knew what you were actually getting into, which did not deter me. She seemed happy I was excited to learn more than the job description requires for advancement and change of pace. All in all, a good experience.

    Interview

I applied online and got a call about two weeks later. Had an interview the next day which were basic interview questions like "tell me about yourself?" "What kind of breeds of dogs or animals are you not comfortable with?". Then got a call back a week later and again had an interview the next day but with the store manager. Same questions were asked and then they sent me to take drug test and scheduled when to come in for orientation process. Just be yourself, look nice, and just don't be stupid.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeksinterviewed at PetSmart (Westminster, CO) in April 2014.

    Interview

Applied online, received a phone call a few days later from the PetsHotel manager, set up an interview for the next day. The interview was incredibly simple and relaxed. He basically just verified all of the information I submitted in my application. He also asked about my schedule availability and was very interested in hearing about my past experience working with dogs. There is a second interview with the Petsmart store manager, who I haven't heard from yet (it's been over a week now - I called to follow up and she said she hasn't had time to schedule interviews yet). So, we'll see.
