I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Portrait Innovations in October 2014.

    Interview Details

Interview was about 20 minutes long. The place was completely dead during my time there, with 2-3 employees aimlessly walking around or standing around chatting. Typical interview questions were asked. Manager said she would submit my information to HR for hire and that if they choose me I'd hear from them. It wasn't a negative experience, but I wasn't all that impressed either.

They only take approved online applications. It took lots & lots of phone calls trying to track down the manager. Once I finally got a hold of her it took about another week to get a personal interview at the studio. I got there for the interview I had scheduled with the studio manager & the studio manager wasn't even there. The assistant studio manager didn't know what was going on & did the interview very poorly. The assistant manager had little photography experience & seemed intimidated by the fact that I'm a very experienced male pro photographer applying to 'her little "girls club"'. I called & called to talk to the manager without any results; I basically got blown off, unfairly. I didn't get the position & have put in numerous applications since then without any response, even when I've called numerous times to follow up getting blown off every time. There's no legitimate reason for not being hired here with my extensive professional photography background or continually ignored because I'm a male.

I applied online. The process took a weekinterviewed at Portrait Innovations in September 2014.

    Interview Details

First I sent out a resume online to the job posting of Portrait Innovations. I got an phone call interview with a recruiter that set up a interview in person. The manager of the retial site of the portrait innovations did the interview. He has scheduled several interviews and I had to wait until he finished interviewing the other person also applying for the job.
The manager was very friendly with myself and the other job canidate. But it did seem that portrait innovations use to be a more professional business and would look better if everyone wore a uniform. The interview has many questions of tell me about yourself to what are your strengths and weaknesses, etc. It would be a hard job, working much overtime and no benefits and not much job security due to high job security based on sales. The other sales people were not happy.

You don't necessarily need much experience (or any at all) to get hired. Something you must keep in mind (which from I heard, many people didn't understand) is that you're about 80% of the time working with children age 5 and under. If you can't work with kids you're pretty much out of luck here.

Interview was fairly short and straight forward, about 30 minutes long. I was asked general questions like what are your strengths and weaknesses, what do you know about Portrait Innovations. Be sure to have some examples of how you have dealt well with stress in the past because they want to know that you can handle the Christmas rush.

    Interview Details

I applied online and received an initial phone interview with a recruiter a few days later. We set up a one-on-one interview at the store location with the studio manager. I was offered the position by the recruiter less than a week later and accepted. Paperwork was e-mailed to me and was required to be express shipped back to corporate office. My training took place at HQ in Charlotte, North Carolina and I was reimbursed travel expenses in my 3rd or 4th paycheck.

The interview wasn't very professional. The manager had never interviewed anyone before as this was his first time in this position. He did ask basic interview questions concerning experience, why I though I would be a good fit for the position, etc.

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Portrait Innovations in August 2013.

    Interview Details

The interview process was set up exclusively online by corporate. I had a phone interview with the corporate HR rep once and I met with the branch manager once in person. She was great. The people I saw working that day were great. Everyone was very energetic. Everything moved very quickly. I was working within a week of submitting my resume.

    Interview Questions
    • I was a little surprised to be asked if I had any experience photographing or handling children. I had mentioned in the online application process that I had no experience with either.   Answer Question
    Negotiation Details
There was no negotiation. I desperately needed a job and they offered.
I did not, however appreciate the fact that their very carefully constructed new employee handbook was quite misleading. It mentioned seasonal overtime not to exceed 12 hrs per day or 70 hrs per week. Both were untrue. It was common to work 16-17 hrs per day, several days in a row.
