The process took 2 months - interviewed at Proofpoint in December 2011.

Interview Details – The interview process was challenging, but rewarding. The people I interviewed with were mostly senior management. Each one was unique and each person probed in different areas (skills, knowledge, personality, conflict resolution, etc). I don't know if this was orchestrated, or just came about naturally, but the experience overall left me feeling like the company cared a great deal about finding the right person for the job. It also gave me the opportunity to get to know some of them quite well in a short period of time. It was definitely intense, but I felt very good about my decision to take the job after it was all done. I should note that the duration was a little extended, but was due in part to the timing (end of year, busy for everyone) as well as some personal matters on my part.

Negotiation Details – the negotiation process was fair. I shared my (then) current compensation plan and my expectations with the recruiting team. The recruiter I dealt with was upfront and honest about what he felt was doable, and which parts may not be an exact match with my expectations or desires. In the end, we were able to come to an agreement that I think is fair to both sides.
