Internal Auditor Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2+ months - interviewed at Raytheon in July 2013.
Interview Details – Initially, they get back to you in acceptable time. Then, it all goes south. They drag on the process for weeks. First, having the post internal, then saying they have to post externally. It's a good month before the interviews start. First, it's a phone interview. It's pretty straight forward. If you get a second, in person, interview, the person rarely seems interested. Like they are on a time crunch to get in so many people an hour. Overall, they don't really spend time answering your questions. They just say that they are good questions, provide a stock meaningless answers and then thank you for your time. It'll be another several weeks before you hear if you get the job or not.
Interview Question – Usually, they ask experience based questions. "Tell me how you handled this situation...." This time I was asked how I handled a situation where I had to improve a process and, as quickly as possible, what are the steps I took and what was the result. If you didn't succeed, don't bother using that example. It will automatically look poorly on you. Answer Question
Very Easy Interview
Clerk Interview (Negative Experience; Very Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Raytheon in August 2010.
Interview Details – I applied online, it took them about 2 or so weeks to get back to me with an interview date and time. They first called me after I submitted my resume, then I had a one on one interview at the location.
Interview Question – None of the questions were difficult, they do emphasize that the style of work is similar to working in the military because the procedures are clear, standard and straight forward. That being said, they expect the same quality of work from you and it is reasonable. Answer Question
Senior Facilities Planner Interview (Neutral Experience)
I applied online and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Raytheon.
Interview Details – Quick e-mail to state minimum salary and also reiterated distance between my house and site location. Once I stated that my minimum salary requirement was at the top of the starting range, I was suddenly no longer being considered
Supervisor Interview (Neutral Experience; Easy Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Raytheon in September 2009.
Interview Details – Was contacted via e-mail to set up interview. Meet at Starbucks with onsite manager and HR specialist. Interview was very low key and it seemed that it went o.k. H.R. person seemed to be very enthusiastic, but the on-site manager seemed very defensive from the start. Asked questions about my background. I got a e-mail telling me that I was not being considered further.
Interview Question – Tell us about your work and supervisory experience Answer Question
Materials Program Manager II Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Raytheon in August 2013.
Interview Details – Applied on-line thru Raytheon site; 1 week later I received a phone call from HR asking if I would be able to come in the following week for an interview.
I met with the hiring manager and then with the 2nd line manager. No trick questions; pretty straightforward. It appeared the 2nd line manager was looking for a bit more than the job description or hiring manager mentioned. A professional experience however.

Mechanical Engineer Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Raytheon in April 2013.
Interview Details – 12 or so candidates were brought together and taken a few at a time to interview. Total session included an info session about benefits at Raytheon and then two individual interviews each. The rest of the time we just relaxed in a big conference room with two hiring managers. The strangest part I would say was that we had to be "watched" the whole time, so even if we had to use the restroom, someone had to accompany us.
Interview Question – Tell me about a time when you had to give a boss bad news. View Answer
FA II Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied through other source and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Raytheon in June 2013.
Interview Details – Received a call just 2 wks after submitting application and schedule an in person interview for the next week. Hiring manager covered all the bases and did an excellent interview.
Interview Question – The online application - it is extremely detailed and you must fill in every cell or you cannot submit it. Once submitted, you cannot go back and you get disconnected when you call the number you are given for questions. Answer Question
Senior Software Engineer II Interview (Negative Experience; Difficult Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Raytheon in June 2012.
Interview Details – 1) Developer Challenge
2) Phone Interview
3) Meet fellow workers at office - personality fit
4) In-person interviews
Interview process was very messed up, with the recruiter vanishing for two weeks at a time. The recruiter would then want to have a chat in the real sense, asking what I've been doing for the last couple of weeks, etc. Questions that have no bearing on the interview process.
After completing the first three steps of the interview process, the recruiter said only the in-person interview was left, which was subsequently postponed twice. After a month, the recruiter wanted to do a video Skype chat, which he said was not part of the interview process. I thought "What the hell?" and gave up on the job. Very unprofessional.
Principal Multi-Dis Engineer Interview (Neutral Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online - interviewed at Raytheon in June 2013.
Interview Details – Applied for the position and was notified within a week of a telephone interview via E-Mail. The initial telephone interview was fairly straight forward - tell me about yourself, why do you want to leave your current employer. Some discussion on the overall job responsibilities and how I could help them. Received an E-Mail a few days later saying the position was filled with an internal candidate.
Interview Question – How do you handled difficult employees and asked for an example. Answer Question
Systems Engineer Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Raytheon.
Interview Details – Initial communication through a recruiter, then comes a phone interview with the project manager/hiring manager. Within a week you should find out if they want to fly you to location for a 1:1 interview. You will meet with three or four different managers on location who will ask you mostly similar questions about.. When was a time when you had to solve a problem? When was a time where you had to deal with a difficult colleague? When was a time when you went above and beyond? They will rent you a car and put you up and the recruiters are very helpful and open. You may have to bug them for an answer whether you got the job or not if it has been over a week later.
Interview Question – All the usual problem-solving type questions asked, but no technical questions, mostly personality. Answer Question
