QA Interview

QA
Dallas, TX

I applied online and the process took 3 months - interviewed at Raytheon in February 2013.

Interview Details – Hiring Process: Submit resume on-line, maybe get a phone interview - first round - lots of folks applying so the managers have lots of candidates to talk to - then process goes into a black hole. Watch on-line submission status till you get a second round of phone interview or a no longer under consideration on the job status web page.

Interview Question – What did you do to handle a problem you had on the job. Suggest you stay away from using people problems or funding/charging/contract/customer problems - keep it technical.   View Answer

Senior Systems Engineer Interview

Senior Systems Engineer
Fort Irwin, CA

I applied online and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Raytheon in May 2009.

Interview Details – It was on the phone, I was working over sea's and called at 4 AM in the morning. Most of the questions where very to the point and had to do with the job. Then we got in to how I would work out problems that where not part of my area but could from time to time fall in to my work day.
There was 4 managers on the phone, one would be the manager that I would work for if I got the job. Each manager had questions in there area, some very open, some very to the point.

Interview Question – there was a question that was what was the best way for an object to fall, in a line or in a curve? It would depend on what you where looking for the out come to be, was what I said. They never told me if I was correct.   Answer Question

RF Engineer Interview

RF Engineer
Tucson, AZ

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Raytheon in November 2012.

Interview Details – Flew out to the Missile Systems location in Tucson, AZ with about 160 other potential candidates in a hiring event. They had booths set up interview day to interview all candidates for many different positions of all major types.

Well, before that I had a phone interview where the hiring manager himself called me to discuss my projects/ resume. He said it sounded relevant and invited me out to the hiring event.
Interview went pretty well, just basically asked me about my resume again ( I spoke to many other candidates and they all said they had the same experience ). They also asked me if I had any experience in RF. I didn't have any experience, but I figured they liked my resume enough to interview me for that position

Interview Question – No difficult questions, just asked questions about my resume, projects, and related them to the company.   View Answer

Line Manager Interview

Line Manager
El Segundo, CA

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Raytheon in March 2012.

Interview Details – I was already working at the company, so having an interview was easier than for someone from the outside. The interview was scheduled and I was the last one interviewed. The panel consisted of the department manager (hiring manager), 2 managers and a staff member and was arranged by HR and the department administrator.

The interview lasted for approx. 1 hour and consisted of me giving them a summary of myself, a series of questions from each panel member and a wrap up summary by me. They were going to make a decision within one week of my interview.

I did not hear back from them, but I followed up with them after 1 week. They responded that they had selected someone else with more experience than I had.

The interview was very comfortable and professionally handled. They were accommodating to my schedule and asked canned HR questions --- standard, "safe" questions to ask interviewees.

Software Engineer Interview

Software Engineer
El Segundo, CA

The process took a day - interviewed at Raytheon in March 2012.

Interview Details – I applied for this position on their website. A few weeks later and after back and forth with a recruiter I interviewed on site with two team managers. Interview started out with some questions asking me to rate myself on software and tools such as: Rate yourself from 1 to 5 in JAVA, Microsoft Excel, etc. They went on to ask questions related to my experience and behavioral type questions. Very easy and straight to the point interview.

Though the title was a software engineer, the position itself was definitely not for software engineers. This position was going to focus on configuration management systems, which was not something that would have really fit me anyways. Got a call the next week, letting me know they hired somebody with experience in configuration management systems.

Senior Principal Kernel Developer Interview

Senior Principal Kernel Developer
Huntsville, AL

The process took a day - interviewed at Raytheon in January 2012.

Interview Details – Started out well but got very strange.

They give you 3 non-trivial projects to complete and submit in order to be considered for a face-to-face interview.

Am I back in college?

I have participated in hundreds of professional interviews as both the interviewer and interviewee. I have never seen a organization assign programming projects like this.

I was insulted.
