Interview Details – I was actually hired by a local grocery chain, but was kept on when Supervalu bought it out. I never had to go thru any type of interview process, but when our annual reviews came around I did have one pet peeve. We had to do a self evaluation which was extremely difficult for me-I thought my manager was a bit lazy in this regard.

Interview Question – I guess one of the most difficult questions in general is when they ask "where do you see yourself in 5 years".   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 6 weeks - interviewed at SUPERVALU in January 2013.

Interview Details – Typically positions are posted internally first. If the candidate pool is limited internally after a week or two, then the positions are also posted externally. Recruiters will screen candidates for relevant experience and cultural fit. Resume are shared with hiring manager. Selected candidates are then brought in for a 1 to 1 1/2 hour interview. Candidate may have more than one interview w/ different parties during the same visit. Candidate may need to come back for second interviews. Right before I left we also started adding online assessments to the process. Director level & up are required to go through a 1 1/2 day "mock" work scenario assessment hosted by an independently 3rd party before they can be made an offer. Process typically takes 6 weeks, but can vary dramatically depending on multiple factors.

Interview Question – SUPERVALU does behavioral interviewing. Plan to bring real-life work examples of how you demonstrated customer service, made critical decisions, how you handled urgent priorities, and how you showed leadership.   Answer Question

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at SUPERVALU in July 2009.

Interview Details – There were three steps to the interview. First was a phone interview with the recruiter, which was pretty typical. They asked the general background and experience questions, very relaxed setting. The second was in-person with three of them and one of me. The recruiter was there and two people from HR, not really sure why the need for two HR folks. That interview ran about 2 hours, which was fine, though could be intense for some people to have 2 hours of a 3 of them/1of you. They asked standard background questions again, then got into more experience-oriented and some "what if" scenarios to understand character and analytic expertise. The last interview was with the VP of the group, who kept me waiting in the lobby for about 45 minutes. I was about to ask if they could find someone to reschedule out of concern for my own time and that the VP must be having a bad day and might be distracted during the interview. Getting into the interview, it was clear that the VP was distracted. The overview of the responsibilities was not done very well. I ended up stating in the interview that I did not think this would be a good fit.

Interview Question – How I would recommend structuring a team within the department. Difficult because I did not have much information on the goals of the team.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at SUPERVALU in January 2013.

Interview Details – Applied online and received an email the next day for a phone screen. Passed the phone screen and got another email from a different recruiter for an in person interview. Recruiter sent me a list of behavioral questions to prepare for and a more detailed job description.

In person interview was with a manager and director. Interviewers were on time and polite. Mostly behavioral interview questions were asked. Was told at the conclusion of the interview that the position was on hold and they gave me a date that a decision might be made. Followed up 2 weeks later with a voice mail to the recruiter. Received a rejection email the next day.

Interview Details – HR Contacted me to schedule interview. E-mailed me the behavioral "competencies" and told me to study. Interviewed with 2 groups of 2 for about an hour and a half. Each group asked me 4 questions, one for each "competency". Didn't talk about qualifications or anything, strictly behavioral based questions.

The process took 5 days - interviewed at SUPERVALU in October 2009.

Interview Details – Communication initiated by company through email. A phone interview was arranged over the course of 4-5 emails. There was significant confusion. Before phone interview, in-person interview was arranged at career fair. Phone interview consisted of a few housekeeping questions circulating around ability to work in US and the job being interviewed for. Phone interview was abrupt and somewhat awkward. In-person interview with brand manager was mostly behavioral questions and was extremely pleasant.
