    Senior Client Services Partner Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Denver, CO
Anonymous Interview Candidate in Denver, CO
    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Savvis in August 2013.

    Interview Details

I submitted a resume to their website. I was contacted by a scheduler from a centralized location (St. Louis) with information on the phone interview time and the number I was to call. The interviewer arrived promptly and began asking questions about how I would handle different scenarios that she gave. There was little in the way of traditional interview questions other than the "tell me about yourself" question.

I submitted an application via their website. A scheduler from the St. Louis area called to set-up and phone interview. The interviewer arrived at the conference call site and led off with "tell me about yourself". Following that, the questions were about how I would handle certain scenarios the interviewer spelled. There were few traditional interview questions.

    Database Engineer Interview

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at Savvis in January 2013.

    Interview Details

I applied online. I was contacted by an HR staff member who set up a technical telephone interview with a database engineer employee. There was some confusion in setting up the telephone interview by the HR staff. The interviewer was from India and was difficult to understand. Every question asked wasn't something that any DBA or DBE would not know off the top of their heads -- most of the answers to his questions I have in installation checklists and white paper documents. Quite frankly, my wife, who is not technical, was listening and watching as I did the phone interview. She was frustrated by the questions and the tone of the interview -- much different from many of the other phone interviews I have participated in...

    Interview Questions
    • Most all of the questions asked were not really relevent to day-to-day DBA/DBE operations. For example, one question asked was how the database model changed when a recovery was performed -- the model shouldn't change, it should be as the model was when the backup was done -- but he wouldn't accept that answer. Another asked how I would troubleshoot a performance problem. As I mentioned methodolgies and tools I would use, SQL Nexus, Profiler, DMVs, etc., the interviewer took all of them away until there was nothing practical left to use, then insisted that I tell him more. I think he may have been taken back a bit when I indicated that if he wasn't going to allow me to use any of the tools I know, that I would leave the client stuck with their own performance problem -- frankly, if the DBA/DBE and client can't work together, using tools that make sense and solve problems, why bother? I really do hope their work environment isn't that way...   Answer Question

    Product Development Manager Interview

    Application Details

I applied online. The process took a dayinterviewed at Savvis in May 2012.

    Interview Details

Applied online, HR calls to set up interview with Hiring Manager. Interview with Hiring Manager "appears" to go well (the "atmosphere" of the interview naturally flows to where the Hiring Manager visually "shakes" themselves to "end" the interview as they realized time was getting away (they enjoyed the conversation). But then never heard back although they said that I would fit in with no problem due to my personality and skill set. In the end, never heard back and position "disappeared" off the job list.

    Director Interview

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 daysinterviewed at Savvis in August 2011.

    Interview Details

HR was very helpful. My inside referral helped me get an interview with a Global VP and two Senior Directors without a phone screening interview. The company seems to want to promote technical engineers into management when that isn't the best thing to do. They have several young and inexperienced personnel in management.

    Internship Interview

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a dayinterviewed at Savvis in March 2011.

    Interview Details

Interviewed with the VP. She was extremely cordial and had nice interpersonal skills. I interviewed for an internship just to get my foot in the door. The position, I'm guessing, was for those still in school. I graduated a semester before the interview so I guess that is why I have heard nothing with respect to the interview. The interview was brief, 40 mins, in which the usual questions were asked and then a powerpoint presentation followed. It is rather disappointing that when someone has a title that includes the word communication they do not respond to follow-up emails. I wrote two; one the day of thanking her for the interview and the other a month later. Still not one response and as a communications major I have to say that responding to emails is pretty basic. Without being able to communicate via email it makes me wonder what they mean by communication.

The initial contact by 'talent locator' was nice. I really didnt even get to ask any questions to this person, but was scheduled for a technical phone interview first. The technical phone interview seemed kind of cold to me. The gentleman jumped right into the questions, and I never really had an opportunity to learn more. The next thing I know is that I received an email that thanked me for applying, but I was not chosen. It makes me wonder how many valuable people get pushed away with a method like this. A Candidate who was declined the position has no idea how the interview went, or why the decision was made. The decision was made by one person alone.

The process took a dayinterviewed at Savvis in May 2010.

Got a call from HR to schedule. A few days later had a video Cam interview with hiring manager on the east coast. Interview was very basic, it wasn't a good match for me. I was told that they'll got to me but I never heard back from them again. I expected a email or something. Very rude and unprofessional.

The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at Savvis in April 2010.

    Interview Details

Interview process started with a third party recruiter who was great! Then, after two weeks of no communication, proceeded to live 1 on 1 with hiring manager who was clearly not technical. Another two weeks and HR called to schedule a telepresence interview with three execs back East. Seemed to go well but no feedback for a week. then HR VP called to tell me I was still a candidate. Two more weeks pass and no feedback. Finally I was told I was not selected. Very unprofessional process, low salary range and phony bonus package. Glad I didn't get involved with this company.
