I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Schlumberger (Houston, TX).

    Interview

I got the first interview through my university career fair. I had an interview on campus. Basic questions about thing son resume and behavioral questions. After 2 weeks(exactly) heard back for a 2nd round on their site. We were flown and driven there. Nice accommodation and hotel arrangements. We then met at a hotel, they gave a presentation about the company. Then we had a group activity(the usual; making a catapult). It was just for fun and team building. Don't think they were judging anything coz only recruiters came to the event, no managers. Next day, we left for the company early morning. We had our presentations which was pretty easy. The questions asked in the end were very simple and straightforward. The managers had no expressions on their face !! We then had 4 one on one interviews . Basic questions about past experiences. Some asked rapid fire lean questions. So be prepared with definitions of the basic Lean terminology. We also went on a quick tour of the plant. Was not like what I expected. It was rushed and fast. I was told I would hear back in 2 weeks. I didn't and my follow-up e-mails were ignored. I finally got through them after 4 weeks to know that even though they liked me, they weren't going to hire because of the problems in the oil and gas industry. It was a disappointment.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 8+ months. I interviewed at Schlumberger (Houston, TX) in May 2015.

    Interview

8 months passed between the time I applied and the time I was contacted. I agreed to an interview via webcam with HR, which lasted about 45 minutes. HR recommended me for an in-person interview which I did the next week. It was obvious from the moment I entered the conference room that I was not going to get the job. The manager had been forwarded the wrong copy of my CV from HR (the one from 8.5 months prior). I'm under 30 but could tell that my age would affect my fit with the young group, and my previous experience was being essentially brushed aside as if it were nothing. The interview itself was fairly straightforward. They told me to follow up with HR, which I did, but suddenly my contact who had been so open to communication before (including a 45-minute video chat) was no longer responding to me. I received an automated decline message that Sunday night at 8 PM. When I logged onto my career profile, I had also been declined for a position I had yet to interview for. All-in-all it was a colossal waste of time for me, especially haven taken off of my current job to fulfill the interview process.

    Field Engineer Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Schlumberger (University Park, PA) in March 2015.

    Interview

It was a very basic interview with completely behavioral questions. The interviewer was very calm and collective and made the entire process very easy and comfortable. There were many students at my university with interviews so at times I felt as if the interviewer was rushing to get through us and move on to the next person, so sometimes it felt as if he was interrupting to go on to the next question when I would be trying to elaborate further.

I applied through college or university. The process took a week. I interviewed at Schlumberger (College Station, TX) in March 2015.

    Interview

Asked me very generic questions and had me work through two logic based problem solving questions. The interviewer was very methodical in asking me the questions and made notes on everything that I answered. She was not the most talkative and simply asked questions without carrying on a conversation to my responses.

    Interview

Applied through college/university. Got face to face interview with recruiter. The recruiter was an engineer who has been working with Schlumberger for 10+ years. He gave an indication that he was not actually hiring due to bad oil market. He is conducting interview just to keep some people on his list I guess.

    Interview

So far, I've only had a first round interview. I would describe the interviewer as a seasoned veteran of the company who has experience in possibly every aspect of the field. In the two days I had contact with him (info session and interview) he had a lot of knowledge and experience to impart. To be honest, it was a privilege. The interview itself was extremely relaxed. He had specific questions to ask about my fortitude and to ensure I would fit in, and that was about it. It seemed like the fastest half hour of my life. I hope it was easy because my resume spoke for itself and he already decided he liked me, but that's just speculation, and possibly wishful thinking. He replied to me and thanked me before I could even thank him. Very very impressed. I want to work for this company. I will update as the process hopefully continues. I have not received an offer yet, interview was only yesterday. I still need to be invited to and pass a second round.
