Technical Service Representative Interview

Technical Service Representative

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Shaw Communications in June 2014.

Interview Details – Applied for the position online through Manpower. Had a quick phone call interview with Manpower, followed by an online behavioral and technical question session (Nothing too technical or hard for people that learn very quickly and have good high school math skills) then a face to face with Manpower about two days later. Quickly received an email that I was being booked for an interview session at Shaw's offices and I was going for the Technical Support position.

At Shaw, I was placed in one of two interview groups that each had three people. We had group activities first, then we were interviewed individually by 3 separate Shaw recruiters, all on Situational and Response questions with emphasis on basing your answer on a previous personal experience.

Interview Question – Give an example of how pitched an idea to your manager on changing a process already in place at the company.   Answer Question

Call Center Tier I Interview

Call Center Tier I
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I applied through a staffing agency and the process took 2 days - interviewed at Shaw Communications in May 2014.

Interview Details – They take you to this big room, where 3 interviewers will tag team on you, but first you participate in this group activity with other 5 candidates, in order to check how you interact with other people and also profile your personality.
The "game" was to divide us in 2 groups of 3 people and from a list of 10 items, come to a consensus of what 5 would we consider the top priorities to have if lost in the woods.
After, comes a 3 part interview with each of the managers, one seems to be Human Resources, other technical approach and the last one customer service, they will ask you questions from past work experience, then your own skills and finally questions about, how would you act if...
It's a grueling and boring thing, the questions are obviously intertwined so they can get a picture of your consistency and how stable you are, at the end of each round they all sit together and confer their notes.

Interview Question – Explain a time where you had to defend a client's interest and the company's at the same time.   View Answer

Leadership Development Trainer Interview

Leadership Development Trainer
Calgary, AB (Canada)

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Shaw Communications in September 2013.

Interview Details – After three phone interviews I was flown into the headquarters in Calgary for a panel interviews. I made a presentation & 6 people interviewed me in panel & in person. That was the end of it. No contact since then, not a single email or phone call suggesting I didn't get selected. Not even reply to my emails. More so, I got charged for the hotel I stayed in when the understanding was the company would cover the cost of my travel and lodging. How bizarre.

Interview Question – Why do you want to move to Vancouver? It is very expensive city to live in   Answer Question

Customer Support Technician Interview

Customer Support Technician
Edmonton, AB (Canada)

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Shaw Communications.

Interview Details – I was called by Recruiter and done phone screening. Then, she told me to take an online test which last around 30 min.,. On that online test, there were little bit behavior and technical questions. After few days, recruiter called me to appear on face to face interview with a recruiter for that technical support job. That interview was last for 45 minutes. He asked me all sorts of question including technical and my last experiences. Next day, he called me and told me I got selected for the final interview at Shaw headquarter, Edmonton. They called 12 other selected people including me for conference interview as they told me. On that conference interview, they just asked us to give our opinion as they picked up some topics. They picked some topics which were not related to any customer support service. They just told to discuss few Shaw's company related images in current market. It was lasted around one hour and half. They told us they would inform us next week by phone which got selected. They never called me !!!! I worked as 3 years customer support technician on my previous job experience. I don't know where that interview gone as the way they took my interview. Actually, group panel interview is thumps down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Delivery Manager Interview

Delivery Manager
Calgary, AB (Canada)

I applied online and the process took 4 days - interviewed at Shaw Communications in November 2011.

Interview Details – Some of the interview questions:

- Tell me about yourself.
- describe a situation where a project you managed failed, reasons, and what you have done to overcome the challenges.
- did you have to deal with difficult team member?
- what are your strengths?
- what is your experience in process improvement?

I felt like one hour was not enough given the scope of the position, I always feel that the phone interviews done by the recruitment guys are waste of time if not accompanied by the hiring manager.

Customer Service Representative Interview

Customer Service Representative

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Shaw Communications in September 2011.

Interview Details – The head office that originally called left a very scattered message on answering machine. They were very confused as to what message they were leaving. I called back and and spent quite few minutes on hold. She had to review my application. They wanted to do an on the spot phone interview, and she was not very professional. Kind of sounded young and bored. Left a bad feeling like maybe i do not want to work there.
