Supply Chain Intern Interview

I applied through college or university and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Staples in March 2014.

Interview Details – Submitted my resume through university career website, and was e-mailed by a recruiter to set up a phone interview. Phone interview lasted about 30 minutes, and consisted of standard behavioral and scenario questions. They tell you a little bit about the program, but can't tell you day to day specifics because you're speaking to a recruiter and don't know the ins and outs of the program.

Interview Question – None were that hard   Answer Question

Senior Financial Analyst II Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Framingham, MA

I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Staples in March 2014.

Interview Details – The process took over a month from the date of online submission of the application. Then about three weeks to hear the decision of the hiring manager that BTW did not do other than talk about him self during the personal interview. What a self center person (only 4 months working at Staples came form WB mason). The other Three people (with more than 10 years at Staples) were outstanding professionals interested on knowing your back ground and trying to figure it out if you are a good fit. All questions were behavioral.

Since they took a month to reject the application, I unfortunately turned down other opportunities waiting for the "big job" at this company.

Interview Question – All behavioral. The hiring manager wanted me to tell him how would I forecast Staples revenue. There was a chuck board on his office. I wish I had gotten up and write something on the chuck board.   Answer Question

Business to Business Sales Representative Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
Auburn, WA

I applied online - interviewed at Staples in March 2014.

Interview Details – I applied online and was contacted by email the following day. I interviewed by phone the next day and I terminated the process.

Interview Question – This interview quickly revealed that this company wants young, inexperienced sprinters that want to prove themselves and be the star. They want people to do this over and over again with high quotas, unprotected territories with more than a dozen reps, and when you get burned out, you're done HR explained that this job has very high turnover because people think they can manage but can't and they are terminated.

Questions:
Won't it be difficult to volunteer, manage your family and work 40+ hours a week? You know this is an exempt position, right?
What was a time you took someone at face value?
Do you prefer to work in a changing environment or more consistent?
Tell me about a time you used logic when others around you were basing a decision on subjective matters.
Did you have a sales matrix in your last job?
Are you a hunter or a farmer?
When was a time you failed and what did you do?
Tell me about a time you had to consider the emotions of another person when you were making a difficult decision.
Do you make decisions more on logic or feelings?
Why did you leave your last employer or would you have been happy staying there?

Interview Details – Aptitude Test/Survey
Call
Face to Face interview in Sandy Springs, GA - immediately could tell the interviewer was a "real character" so I did not pursued employment with the company any further.

Interview Question – The interview was really strange. He asked for me to ask him questions I had then wrote all of them down and then answered all of them in at once. By far the worst interview I have had because the guy was extremely rude.   Answer Question

B2B Sales Associate Interview

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Staples.

Interview Details – I was referred to Staples by a current employee. I was then contacted by a recruiter for a phone interview who asked basic questions about previous employment and work behavior. Then I was contacted by the hiring manager for a face to face interview. From there I was asked to do a ride along. After the ride along I was asked to prepare a powerpoint presentation for a second interview. I was not offered the position at the end.

Interview Question – 3 times I was asked to give an example of a time when I set a goal for myself and failed.   Answer Question

Sales Associate Interview

Sales Associate
Lancaster, PA

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Staples in January 2014.

Interview Details – They called me in for an interview about 2 weeks after I put in the application. Both the Store Manager and Assistant Manager interviewed me...at the same time. The questions were straight forward. The issue was that, a week later, they called me again. They didn't offer the the job...in fact they wanted an interview. They didn't have any of my information from my first interview with them and completely forgot they interviewed me in the first place. It was awkward and they never contacted me again.

Interview Question – No difficult questions.   Answer Question

Copy and Print Associate Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate
College Point, NY

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Staples in January 2014.

Interview Details – So I applied just on a whim, I needed a job immediately and any part time job would do. Within a week I got a call back and scheduled my interview for the following week. When I got to the interview, it was a little busy in the store so I had to wait on the Manager. He brought me into the office apologized and then it began. I was asked the generic questions, you know like what would do scenarios, what have you done in certain situations and of course why do I want to be a Staples copy & print tech. It wasn't bad at all nor intimidating. At the end he let me know they will call me within the week if they will do a 2nd interview or not. Of course I got the 2nd interview.
Now the 2nd interview is a breeze. You basically have the job and the manager just wants to showcase you to the other managers and the Copy and Print Supervisor. I was asked one or 2 questions. Same type scenarios based question and why Staples copy and print tech. That was basically it. They proceeded to tell me more about the company and the Interview over. The next day I came to fill in the paper work and the following day after that I started working. Very quick process. The staff was all very friendly and un-intimidating. The whole environment is welcoming.

Interview Question – The most difficult question was........... THERE WASNT ANY DIFFICULT QUESTIONS!!!!!! They ask all the general questions you would expect on a interview.   Answer Question
